  • Biollante: probalby, but 59 percent is considered a "blow out" in political terms, some people are on shaky ground right now, there was evne a conservative pollset that worked for Bush warning people that if Republicans are against things like gay marriage in the near future, they would endure catastrophic losses, I don't know if it's this political cycle, but the paradigm shift already happened a while ago

  • Steveinthecity: When Thor pulls the hammer back to throw, his momentum stops. He has always been able to float or hover once airborne, and he'll remain until the hammer comes back to him.  I guess the winds keep him aloft.

  • Biollante: ok so shouldn't Joe Quesada know that? lol  It made him look a bit stupid imo.

  • Jabroniville: Yeah, that's odd- Thor usually has the Hammer out in front. Though I don't think it's ever explained how he can throw it while in mid-flight and not just plummet like a goof. I wish artists would stop having him do things like that :)

  • Steveinthecity: @Biolante:  Thor uses the hammer to fly. He can throw his hammer during flight and float in one spot until the hammer returns to him. Don't know what Joe Q. was thinking there. I've never seen Thor fly on his own.

I'd like to...but I need a DVD recorder before I can do that.  Might be something to save for though.  :)

I realize you don't know me from a hole in the wall, but I will go one better than Tuxedo Mark's offer.

I'd be willing to pay for Priority Shipping with Tracking to myself, so that I could capture and make digital copies. When I was finished I'd ship the tapes back to you (if you wanted) in the same manner.

I've already made a copy of the official Stealing the Show VHS release and some friends of mine have 3 episodes which are the same TV rips from You Tube.

You can PM me if you'd like to see my work on that episode.

Just curious are yours recorded from TV or retail VHS tapes?

I remember seeing this show a really long time ago.  I think it must have been re-runs though.  For a while I kind of thoughtt here was a regular non-Filmation Archie show, but it was this show.

Thos fashions are hilarious.  I mean seriously, Jughead's crown is pink in this version? LOL.

The voice-acting seems pretty bad though.  It sounds almost like they used actual kids to do the voices. Well, at least it's an imporvement over the Filmation voices.  lol

I think they DID use actual kids as the voices.  Alyson Court (who did voice work for the Resident Evil video game series) played Veronica on the show, and she was 13, 14 when she got the part.

That makes sense.  She also played Jubilee.  Thing is she doesn't even sound like her usual self though at that point.  O__O  The boys sound evne worse though.  Jughead sounds like he's played by an 8 year old.  Seems like a bad choice to me.  Sure, they'll sound like kids, but, on the other hand, kids usually can't act.  Usually they just use adult voice actresses for young boy roles, and it turns out a lot better.

I also think Jughead's voice sounds very young.

But man oh man, is that music the eighties or is that music the eighties?  (That was not meant in a good way.)   ;D
I have so many Archies, I've lost count!  :D

Jughead's #1 fan.

Yeah, there was probably an addendum on the scripts that said "must speak Valley Girl in this role".  But, she was probably one of the better voice actors on the show.  The guy that played Reggie wasn't too bad either.

Maybe they should reprint some of the stories in the digests.  I must admit young 80's Ronnie and Betty are pretty adorable. XD  Much cuter even than their Little Archie versions.

I was born in the 80's, but I always liked 80's music.  The only thing that was pretty lame to me was the mainstream rock.  >_<

It's a wonder why they don't...if they can reprint Jughead's Diner, Faculty Funnies, and Dilton's Strange Science, surely the New Archies tales are fair game...

The problem with the New Archies is that they don't "fit in" to the Archie Continuity (such as it is) the way the others do. Some of the characters act pretty much the same way, but then you've got Eugene & Amani coming in, and there's no Dilton at all. Sure they're side-characters, but it'd be kind of a "huhhh?" moment that they'd have to explain ("Oh, remember that year in Junior High when Dilton moved away, and some black kid just like him moved to town? And then he moved away, Dilton came back, and we got a new black friend in Chuck?").

I mean, they COULD fit it in, but then the "New Archies" was never a big hit, and they'd have to do a big spiel introducing the concept and going "Okay, you know all those stories about the gang as Elementary School kids? Well here's a tale of them in JUNIOR HIGH!" It's just too much effort for a short-lived idea meant to get around ownership rights.

Wow, one of the recent Digests (has the SuperTeens flying around on the cover) actually REPRINTS some of these! Now THAT was unexpected! I guess it might be part of their 70th Anniversary celebration or something, or just a recurring feature now.

What's funny about some of the New Archie tales is that pretty much 90% of them would fit right into the mainstream Archie Universe with zero editing. Only the existence of Eugene, Amani & Fangs stands out as odd. All the relationships are otherwise exactly the same.

I was going through some of my old stuff a few months back and I came across a box of New Archies Valentine Cards. I guess even back then I'd buy anything Archie related I could get my hands on (although I really don't remember buying these!)
