  • Steveinthecity: @Biolante:  Thor uses the hammer to fly. He can throw his hammer during flight and float in one spot until the hammer returns to him. Don't know what Joe Q. was thinking there. I've never seen Thor fly on his own.

Thing is, I've heard of it, I just don't what it's about. Could someone give me some info, please?

I've heard of it, and saw it years ago, but I don't remember much about it.

IMDB has a ton of info on it though - http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0099054/

The movie itself actually premiered on May 6, 1990 on NBC, and while ratings were so-so, it did manage a couple of extra screenings.

And, about a couple of years later, in 1992, they printed a comic book adaptation of the actual movie.  You might be able to find it if you look hard enough.  I don't have a copy of it myself, but know that one was made by reading the ads found in digest magazines.

Essentially, it tells the tale of what Archie and his friends would be doing fifteen years later, at the age of 32...and how after years and years, some things never change.

I do remember seeing the original broadcast, but I was a few days shy of turning 9 at the time, and don't remember it completely.

If you're referring to the 2001 film featuring Tara Reid and Rachael Leigh Cook, it shouldn't be all that hard to track down.  I'm pretty sure I saw it as a choice to rent at my local video store.

well, I got the comic adaptation of To Riverdale and Back Again this week...

Story by Robert Loren Fleming (based on a teleplay by Evan Katz), art by Gene Colan (present day) and Stan Goldberg (flashback sequences)

Overall, I really enjoyed it. Both Katz and Fleming treat the characters as grown ups but are still in character. Archie is a lawyer, Betty is a school teacher and struggling writer, Veronica is a jet setter in Paris (with 4 ex-husbands), Reggie is a business man (health club, renovator, car dealer) and Jughead is a psychiatrist. Both Betty and Archie are engaged and we meet their intended spouses Pam and Richard. Moose and Midge are married and have become chiropractors. Ethel steals a scence towards the end of the book that should have been bigger in my opinion but was still very nice. All the situations were handled maturely and intelligently. The one item I wanted more info on is Jughead's ex-wife (he's getting a divorce, but she never makes an appearence) and I wanted more screen time for his son. Colan's art work was very nice, and played really well to Goldberg's cartoony, tradiational flashbacks. If the movie is as good as the comic, I'd be a happy camper.  :)

Thanks for the review. I never read the comic book adaptation.

Comic book adaptations tend to leave out material, due to space limits. However, this adaptation seems to have added some new material, since there are no flashbacks in the movie.

The movie might have more present-day material, though.

Betty Cooper + Cheryl Blossom. It's inevitable.

I have never read the comic but I saw the movie once years ago. I thought it was pretty good. I felt sorry for Betty because she was engaged to Richard who was a bit of a louse. I like the little references such as Betty teaching in Greendale which is where Josie, Melody, Valerie etc live.

If I ever get the chance I'll order the movie.

I'm trying to see if I can order it Friday. Also, GWhitmore, are you able to post some of the comic pages?A few that include most or all of the main characters would be good.
