  • Biollante: probalby, but 59 percent is considered a "blow out" in political terms, some people are on shaky ground right now, there was evne a conservative pollset that worked for Bush warning people that if Republicans are against things like gay marriage in the near future, they would endure catastrophic losses, I don't know if it's this political cycle, but the paradigm shift already happened a while ago

  • Steveinthecity: When Thor pulls the hammer back to throw, his momentum stops. He has always been able to float or hover once airborne, and he'll remain until the hammer comes back to him.  I guess the winds keep him aloft.

  • Biollante: ok so shouldn't Joe Quesada know that? lol  It made him look a bit stupid imo.

  • Jabroniville: Yeah, that's odd- Thor usually has the Hammer out in front. Though I don't think it's ever explained how he can throw it while in mid-flight and not just plummet like a goof. I wish artists would stop having him do things like that :)

  • Steveinthecity: @Biolante:  Thor uses the hammer to fly. He can throw his hammer during flight and float in one spot until the hammer returns to him. Don't know what Joe Q. was thinking there. I've never seen Thor fly on his own.

We have discussed the David Caruso Archie, I posted this on April 23, 2007!

:)

I must have missed THAT post!  LOL!

I still find it hard to believe that David Caruso would have played Archie.  I think Ron Howard would have been a more logical choice...but then again, Ron was busy with "Happy Days" during that time...

I watched it too! there was bad music and a funny Jughead and Ethel scene eating food to dueling banjos, don't remember anything else.

I know a lot of video guys and nobody has been able to turn up a copy. I have someone looking out for it! I would love to get to see it again!

What's even stranger is the actor considered to play Archie at the time...CSI Miami's David Caruso!

*spit take*

I can just imagine him as Archie;

"Who will I choose. Betty..."

*put some sunglasses on*

"Or Veronica."

YEAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHH! *intro of Won't Get Fooled Again by The Who*

Meet the new Arch...the same as the old Arch!

Funny that this should come up again. Just the other day I stumbled across my copy of Comic Book Marketplace #101 (April, 2003) which I bought some time ago for its Archie-related articles, and one of those articles deals with the live-action TV series.

The article is "Archie On TV: Whatever Happened To The Class Of '64?" by Dan Johnson

The issue is available for $3 from http://www.russcochran.com/CBM.html.

According to the IMDB, Caruso was the first choice to play "Archie Andrews" in this project, but he was replaced before shooting began.  He was replaced by an actor named Dennis Bowen.   Admittedly, though, IMDB has some conflicting info, stating that there were two versions of this filmed in one entry, yet only lists info in either entry for it (one titled "The Archie Situation Comedy Musical Variety Show" and the other "ABC Saturday Comedy Special", both aired in 1978) stating that Bowen starred.  Apparently, ABC used to have a habit of airing pilots that either failed to be picked up or just didn't work out as primetime weekend filler in the summer months, a practice that I can remember continuing until the early 1990s....

Am I the only one who has noticed how Archie-esque Happy Days is anyways?

And I kind of hope they don't do a live-action sitcom.  I'm just not sure how that's going to work in live-action.  It's just going to be too weird.  It would either be stupid for being too unlike the actual comic or too stupid for being too faithful to it.  So you can't really win.  Like could you imagine some actor wearing Jughead's crown in a show that is supposed to be current? lol

What bugs me is that I remember watching that show and I know that I recorded it as well.  It's just that back then, blank videotapes were really expensive and I didn't keep a lot of programs.  I collected Archie but I didn't remember this show as being that great so I erased it to record something else.

I just wasn't thinking about the fact that 25 to 30 years later, I would want to see it again.  Even if just to see that it wasn't that good.

Am I the only one who thinks Archie would be perfect on the CW. It's their type of programming and...well, it's the CW, so you really can't fail too bad. :)

This idea makes me want to suicide. XD  How about another cartoon? lol

Aw, come on!  It could air right after America's Next Top Model!  Think of the ratings! :2funny:

Hey! Life With Arche would work perfectly on the CW! :)

And I would like to see some Archie animation of some sort. When Archie Marries came out, I was was thinking it would be pretty cool to do an animated adaption to it like DC and Marvel does. Maybe even have a two sided disc with the Veronica version on one side vs. The Betty version on the other.

I'd be okay with it...the last time we had any sort of Archie related show was Archie's Weird Mysteries, and that was a dozen years ago!

I think The Archies Meet The Jugman would be the last (dumb fun if you can find it). But yeah, an animated series would be great. I mean, just look at all of the stories you have to adapt, plus you have Bingo, Sabrina, and several others too.

What date was that 1977 ABC Archie special the TV Guide ad came from?

FACT: The 1977 ABC Archie live action show was produced by James Korshack, who also produced ABC's Welcome Back Kotter and NBC's Chico and the Man.
