Another of my series is "Vampire Killer". Recent high school grad Ashley Nowak has moved into the city to attend college, but she's in for a surprise: vampires exist! Join Ashley and her new BFF / cosplay partner / girlfriend, Kioko Yoshiguchi, as they fight the undead. There's drama, comedy, horror, and romance. Suitable for high-schoolers. The first story in the series, "Out On Her Own", is now available for 99 cents on Amazon (Kindle), Barnes & Noble (Nook), and Smashwords (many formats, including HTML). There are Kindle and Nook programs for PC, so you don't need these devices to read this story. A preview is also available. Here are the links to the story: http://www.amazon.com/Out-Her-Vampire-Killer-ebook/dp/B0089DVG5S/ref=sr_1_2?s=digital-text&ie=UTF8&qid=1352174890&sr=1-2&keywords=out+on+her+ownhttp://www.barnesandnoble.com/w/out-on-her-own-mark-moore/1111430305?ean=2940014772754https://www.smashwords.com/books/view/169386

As some of you might know, I recently started self-publishing my own original stories earlier this year. My prefered format is "series of short stories", which means each story stands on its own but also forms part of a larger whole (think episodic cartoon series). I have one collection ready. It collects the ten stories in the "Becoming a Hero" series. This is the story of a typical teenaged girl named Linda Lancer - typical except for the fact that she's super-strong. She might or might not someday become a superhero. With her friend, Lara Love, by her side, she'll figure things out. Suitable for high-schoolers. The collection is available for $2.99 on Amazon (Kindle), Barnes and Noble (Nook), and Smashwords (many formats, including HTML). Kindle and Nook programs are available for the PC, so you don't need these devices to read this story. A preview is also available. I was flipping through Betty and Veronica Digest #189 yesterday (late 2008 / early 2009), and there was an ad that showed a picture of the "Katy Keene: Model Behavior" TPB (which I LOVE!). It also mentioned reprints of classic Katy stories in the digests as well as NEW Katy stories in something called "Archie Comics Presents". Did these ever happen?

In 2009 (perhaps technically late 2008), Archie Comics made a big deal about Kumi when she was introduced in Betty and Veronica Digest #190 in an 11-page cover story (back when the digests had new covers) and a 15-page follow-up cover story in #192, but I don't recall seeing anything else with her.
Also, whatever happened to Misako Rocks!, her writer?

I just came across this old post from 2006 where Tania Del Rio says Archie Comics changed Josie and Valerie's last names from what she had in the script (McCoy and Brown, respectively) to Jones and Smith in the final comic. Very strange and unprofessional: http://shadzane.livejournal.com/44269.html

Which stories give you a ticked-off feeling when you're done reading them? Like you're left staring at the book and thinking "Really?"
Love Triangle stories are pretty bad, but I get especially annoyed when Betty and Veronica each pull on one of Archie's arms.
Then there are the stories in which Betty and/or Veronica do some kind of independent girl-power activity but then immediately drop it when a guy (usually Archie) suddenly becomes available.
More specifically, I recently read a story where Veronica decided to dye her hair blonde, and Betty decided to dye her hair black. The guys got confused and mobilized a bunch of guys (including Pop Tate) to dye their hair orange. Betty and Veronica "got the point" and were basically forced into putting their hair back to the colors that the guys were used to. Personally, if I was the girls, I'd throw some expletives at the guys and dump them on the spot.

I mean within the Archieverse, not in the real world.
I read a recently-reprinted story where Veronica learns she was originally going to be named Anastasia (Stasia for short) after Mr. Lodge's great-aunt or someone like that, but they switched to Veronica at the last minute.
B&V go to tell Betty's mom, and she reveals Betty was originally going to be named Roberta, but they switched to Betty.
Neither girl knew about this until "now" (in Archieverse time).
What struck me as odd (other than the fact that neither girl had previously heard about this in the 17+ years of their existence) is the insinuation that Betty is actually named Betty. I recall a story regarding name origins in which Betty's name is clearly Elizabeth.

I've started up a podcast dedicated to the Castlevania video game series. The first episode is up. http://castlevania.podbean.comThere's also a Facebook page: http://www.facebook.com/CastlevaniaPodcastIt's been submitted to iTunes and is under review. Thanks to playtape for helping me get this set up! The first episode is on the long side (30 minutes), because there's a lot of set-up information in the Introduction. Future episodes should be shorter. This episode's featured topic (covered in the Labyrinth section) is the possible influence of the 1985 anime film, "Vampire Hunter D", on Castlevania. There are two news items on upcoming games (Lords of Shadow - Mirror of Fate and Lords of Shadow 2). The Captain N episode covered (in the Warp Zone segment) is "Kevin in Videoland". I give some recommendations in the Conclusion.

The night before last, I read Betty's Diary #11. It kicked off with a 2-parter about Betty visiting Polly in San Francisco. It's filled with some outdated things, such as Betty finding computer programming "hi-tech!" and worrying that Polly is turning "big-city".
It's mentioned at one point that it's been four years since Polly moved to San Francisco. This means Betty had gone through all of high school and part of middle school without Polly around.
Of course, now, Polly is back in Riverdale.
Anyway, it got me thinking of which stories could occur in the current timeframe and which no longer could (or could with some modification).
Assuming two years' worth of stories (junior and senior year and the summer vacation in between) and that the characters are graduating next year, certain stories could no longer occur, such as the gang meeting The Veronicas (Veronica was taking helicopter lessons in the story, but she'd be way too young in 2005-6 now) or Michael Jackson (he died before they entered high school).
Can anyone think of any other stories that simply could not occur to today's version of the gang?
