  • Archie Comics Collector: @spazaru- I would think they would keep that vault section as it is so unique to the annuals and jumbo comics. We will find out next month when the first jumbo 288 pager releases. As for good old Stan Goldberg, I am a #1 fan, of early and late Stan Goldberg. Obviously his art in later years was not at the same level as his early years, his art just says Archie to me and his work on the original Archie Marries storyline got me back into Archie comics and I have not looked back since so I credit him for that. @John, looking forward to the new stories in the upcoming digests.

  • spazaru: I saw that Jon.  Hopefully they'll keep that up!

  • JonInIowaCity: The positive side about the jumbos is that they are now including new material and not just reprints.

  • spazaru: I agree ACC.  The Jumbo Comics are the best.  I just hope the page decrease doesn't come out of the Classic Vault section.  They can take it out of the latter period Stan Goldberg and I wouldn't miss it! Ha ha.

  • Archie Comics Collector: Just called Archie, Jumbo comics digests are going to be decreased to 288 pages starting with Betty and Veronica Friends #240 appearing later next month. The last jumbo comics at 320 pages seems to be Jughead and Archie #5 being released in the next few weeks.

General Comics / Re: What do you think of the newspaper funnies now?
« on: April 20, 2014, 08:35:38 AM »
Rip Haywire is fresh.

But truly, who reads newspapers? Farmers?

I get all my strips online.

For online-only comics--

  • Girl Genius
  • Atomic Laundromat
  • Evil Inc
  • Dungeons & Denizens
  • Yet Another Fantasy Gamer Comic (semi-NSFW?)
  • Sandra and Woo

Oddly, I've gotten fond of the newly refreshed Dick Tracey.

Is this the comic?

The cover is so awsome.

Yes, but where is it re-printed?

We need more Gisele, she is awesome.
Not to be stupid question but who is Gisele? I am new to Archie comics.
Giselle is an artist who has done some great work for Archie. Like the Reversedale issue, where all the girls become boys, and boys become girls. :)
Awsome. That sound realy cool.

The Reversedale story was reprinted recently in The Best of Archie Comics volume 3.  It's a hoot.

More on Gisele Lagace: http://www.giselelagace.com/index.html

Are you certain?
I find no reference to the Reversedale story in volume 3.

It took me a while to "get" this one.

I love the look of the piece, though, and a version with Archie in it would be a wonderful poster.
I agree.  The Life Magazine look is so cool.  Probably the variant I'm getting for sure.

I also think Sabrina looks terrific in this one.
Her expression is really engaging.

Several things are missing, including the Sabrina collection & the B&V Love at first bite collection.
I fear the worst.

Quote
Why are half the men in Riverdale morbidly obese?

Comic effect.

Too fat, too skinny, over muscled, sexy curves (the last on the ladies) are used to make a character distinct, easy to remember, and simple to use in gags.

I actually like newer version Sabrina. Especially her aunts. :)

Trula Twyst, Ginger Lopez, Midge, Samantha Smythe and Ethel (prefer the older version, but as long as she's not the whiny, annoying version I'm cool)

Honestly, I don't really hate any character.
I prefer the newer Aunts, but the Classic Sabrina.

Is this going to be colorized?

Unlikely.

The originals, as first offered.
Same as the other volumes.

This sounds great! I can't wait to see what comes of this.

A Sabrina series set in the 60s? Oh, please tell me that means they're going back to the more classic version of Sabrina, rather than the pre-teen, long blonde hair we've seen in the past!

OOOOH!
OOH-OOH-OOH-OOH-OOH-OOH-OOH-OOH!!!
