Thanks Brunette,
Those were some of my favorites as a kid!

No fair! BRUNETTE used visual aids with her post! Mine would have been so much cooler if I had done the same.

Now it's cool!

Oh Man! I'm a bit older than a lot of you, so I was a kid in the mid to late 60s. My brother and I had a BUNCH of the Major Matt Mason space toys that were really hot in that time. There was also a popular line of robot toys called the ZEROIDS, and you children of the 80s thought the Transformers were original Ha!. Anyway, Major Matt Mason and the Zeroids were about the same scale to one another, so we crossed over Mason's adventures with the Zeroids all the time. I also had an Aurora Lost In Space Robot model that was of similar scale, so he was quickly snapped off his display base and put into service along side the Zeroids and Major Matt Mason. I also recall the classic foot tall G.I. Joe figures doing double duty as soldiers as well as GIANT SPACE ALIENS who attacked Mason's moon base! Man, those were the days!

It's actually a somewhat sad commentary when something like Archie is parodied or used in a manner so far outside the original content.

I saw a comic that was an obvious swipe on the Archie universe in which Archie was a drug addict, Betty and Veronica were... you know, Jughead was beating someone up.

It seems very non-creative.

Parody is the sincerest form of flattery. It also proves that what is being parodied is an important part of the cultural landscape itself. As long as Archie and the gang are refered to in other pop culture arenas, you know they are still popular and viable...even in erotica.

The other day at work, our young inexperienced employee was kind of goofing off on the job, and I made the comment that HE was our JUGHEAD. Everyone got it and laughed.

I have one who accidentally jumped up on the gas range when one of the burners was lit! He got singed, and raced through the house leaving a smokey contrail behind him. He was OKAY, just scared. Pretty funny now.

Oh No! How embarassing! But then the real question is: Do you try to dry it out on the shower curtain rod, or just drop it into the wastebasket? I guess it depends on what exactly was IN the toilet when the digest took the plunge.

It was kind of weird.  I had set it on the edge of the tank while I was brushing my teeth before bed, and somehow, I brushed up against the book, and...sploosh.

And, it couldn't be salvaged...once a book gets wet, it wrinkles up and the pages get stuck together.  Not good.

Well, with all our cats, my wife insists that we keep the lid closed at all times, when not in use. So maybe that has saved my books and comics from ever taking the plunge.

I go into my bathroom to dispose of bodily waste, not to read. Tongue

...I go in to READ first, and then do that other thing you mentioned as well...

That stuff is surprisingly racey for the Archie Universe.

LOL! I think you folks who DO NOT take comics into the bathroom are the weird ones! There is always a big stack of comics, books, magazines, etc. etc. in BOTH of my bathrooms. Of course the wife complains about that fact from time to time, but HEY Hon! Get over it! You're not going to change me after 21 years of marriage.

My cat doesn't like to jump on me - she just likes to either follow me into the bathroom or sit outside the door meowling pitifully and pawing at the door until I come out...
What a modest fellow you are...I never close the door. But it's just me and the wife so no one cares.

I have to be careful though...I have a cat who likes to jump into my arms when I'm using the bathroom. But I have yet to drop an Archie Digest into the toilet.
MJB

That's very funny since I also have a cat who loves to do that, and she's a bit on the fat side so I have to be ready if she's going to jump.

LOL! Mine is male, but kind of tubby as well. And he is so used to me always catching him , that he now just dashes in, jumps on the counter and LEAPS into my arms all in one big blure! He is so trusting that he does not even wait to make sure I am ready to catch him, so I make sure I am always ready whenever I go in there!  And he could knock me down easily if I was not prepared.
