  • Biollante: probalby, but 59 percent is considered a "blow out" in political terms, some people are on shaky ground right now, there was evne a conservative pollset that worked for Bush warning people that if Republicans are against things like gay marriage in the near future, they would endure catastrophic losses, I don't know if it's this political cycle, but the paradigm shift already happened a while ago

  • Steveinthecity: When Thor pulls the hammer back to throw, his momentum stops. He has always been able to float or hover once airborne, and he'll remain until the hammer comes back to him.  I guess the winds keep him aloft.

  • Biollante: ok so shouldn't Joe Quesada know that? lol  It made him look a bit stupid imo.
    May 21, 2012, 07:57:37 AM
  • Jabroniville: Yeah, that's odd- Thor usually has the Hammer out in front. Though I don't think it's ever explained how he can throw it while in mid-flight and not just plummet like a goof. I wish artists would stop having him do things like that :)
    May 21, 2012, 07:23:13 AM
  • Steveinthecity: @Biolante:  Thor uses the hammer to fly. He can throw his hammer during flight and float in one spot until the hammer returns to him. Don't know what Joe Q. was thinking there. I've never seen Thor fly on his own.

So what does everyone think of Freshman Year so far? I'd love to hear some feedback, questions, etc.!

I'm really enjoying it, Bill :)

I like how Betty is conflicted about her feelings for Archie, it's really cute. Artwork wise, you did a good job at making them look their age. Alors, bravo!

I'll be picking up part 2 this week!

You have a thumbs up from me!

Specifically:

1) I like the artwork.  It's a fun take on the gang
2) I like the serialized story - not something we see a lot due to the nature of Archie comics, but it's something I like to see once in awhile. It allows for a deeper exploration of the characters ....well... as deep as an Archie book can get :)
3) The writing is fits the characters well and the dialogue "works"

No matter where I go, there I am.  Creepy.

First off, I like that it was an issue long story and not just one part of the issue.

Second, I was very interested in the way that Archie is depicted. It was a refreshing change and I like it.

Third, I wasn't as keen about Jughead's family moving again. It seems like a plot line we've read too many times before.

Overall, a very good start. It avoided many cliches we've seen in the past.

Just grabbed Archie #588.  I need to read it, but I flipped though and like:

Page 7 - I like the "flow".  It's also fun to see an "old school" 9 panel page!  It's a novelty!  - hahah!
Page 22 - panel 4 :)  nice!
Page 23 - panel 1 - fun!

Those are just a few comments after a very quick flip-through.
No matter where I go, there I am.  Creepy.

Two issues in and it's already one of my favorite Archie stories ever.

Please tell me Batton Lash is doing more Archie work in the near future.

Merci! Means a lot coming from you. :)
Those are some amazingly detailed pages that you did for Scrapyard Detectives. Really nice!

...now to go to a comic shop and pick up Archie #588 :)

I can't find a copy anywhere!!!  :(

On the plus side, it shows just how POPULAR it is here!

Part #1.  Part #2 I plan to get, and it is on sale at the store I work at, but Part #1...I don't know if we ever got it.

I can't find any copy either, since most stores only sell digests. They're used to be a store in the mall that sold pretty much every Archie title, but they closed earlier this year.
So last week I ended up ordering the Freshman series online.

Love part one. Haven't gotten part two yet (due to being busy with army work), but will be looking forward to it.

Bill, great artwork as usual; there's a reason why I mentioned in another thread that you're my favourite Archie artist.
Zach uses:

Guitars: Washburn WV16 (shown in display pic), Cort X6, Godin BG5 5-string bass, Squire P-Bass, Squire P-Bass Special

Equipment: Ashdown Engineering, Marshall, Smokey Amplification, EMG, Seymour Duncan, DiMarzio, BOSS, EHX, Digitech, Ibanez, Jim Dunlop, Ernie Ball Strings

Jughead's Pseudo World Tour (rated T+) (Pt.7 posted 20-12-08)

A situation like this should never exist - then why are we out of control?
