  • Biollante: probalby, but 59 percent is considered a "blow out" in political terms, some people are on shaky ground right now, there was evne a conservative pollset that worked for Bush warning people that if Republicans are against things like gay marriage in the near future, they would endure catastrophic losses, I don't know if it's this political cycle, but the paradigm shift already happened a while ago

Life With Archie: The Married Life #3 (spoilers)
« on: October 20, 2010, 10:15:16 PM »
Following John's lead, I've started a new spoiler thread for issue #3.

I got issue #3 at Wal-Mart on Monday. Here are my thoughts:

Veronica story:

Mr. Lodge continues to act wildly out of character.

Betty appears in only one panel, having gotten a job as a waiter at a steakhouse somewhere. For having the same job as Cheryl, Betty appears happier in the position, and she has a much cuter outfit!

Reggie and Veronica continue to grow closer, but they stop just before Veronica enters cheating territory (though the rumors at Lodge Enterprises have already started).

Jason is working for Mr. Lodge? That's...odd. Wouldn't working for his own father be more appropriate? With Cheryl disowned, Clifford is without an heir-apparent.

Also, better call Hair Club For Men, Jase.

Archie's reconciliation with Veronica is nice, and it seems they genuinely love each other, despite having grown distant.

Betty story:

Mr. Lodge continues to act wildly out of character.

I smiled at Reggie's reaction to the stupid customer. It reminds me of some of the dumb@$$es that come into Kmart.

Mr. Lodge's plan to sabotage Archie by having an inspector check on the stage that's being built at Ambrose's Chowhouse on the wager that Ambrose and Archie didn't file a building permit is...puzzling. Surely, Ambrose already HAS a building permit on file, considering he must have built the interior of his place as it is.

Reggie and Veronica are growing closer in this timeline as well. This being the case, I wonder if Mr. Lodge will continue to try to destroy Archie, considering Veronica seems willing to settle for Reggie.

The inclusion of the Twilite and B&V-in-a-convertible covers as posters, retitled Life With Archie, is...curious.

I can't wait for issue #4!

Betty Cooper + Cheryl Blossom. It's inevitable.

Is any one else not crazy about the idea of Veroinca and Reggie possiably cheating on Archie. I konw the marjority of Archie fans would like that as they  want to  see Archie suffer choosing what they consider to be the wrong girl and /or see the Veronica and Archie collpase so Betty and Archie can be togther in both time lines as that only and ideal situition in the world. But  even thought I the minroity on such subject I like Veroinca and Archie more and don't want them to be written as the lesser couple. I also don't like the idea of cheating in the Archie verse I don't  want happen in the Betty/Archie version ethier. I know it's just fiction and all but I really don't enjoy cheating sl genral and really don't want them mssing up Riverdale

I agree that there seems to be a relationship growing between Veronica and Reggie that seems like it could possibly threaten Veronica's marriage with Archie.  Whether or not that happens or would be allowed to happen in an Archie book, the fact is, that is reality to a lot of readers, be them kids or adults.  Not that people necessarily approve of cheating or adultery but that happens in the real world.

It's possible that by moving into the magazine format they will follow down paths that previously would have been off limits.  I don't know if an affair would be within that scope but it's nice to see some experimentation in the storylines.

Well, let's take a look at the original miniseries. Wouldn't Archie leaving Veronica and his kids behind to travel back in time and marry Betty be considered cheating in a way?

I think that people are probably jumping the gun here.  Veronica hasn't cheated on Archie with Reggie.  She stopped herself before anything happened.  I don't doubt that there are unresolved feelings between Reggie and Veronica, but I think Veronica's still very much in love with Archie.

That being said, it will be interesting to see how Mr. Lodge's personality from hell factors into this.

That's okay the marriage to Veronica and Archie will not last and eventually They with both be all about Betty and Archie being togther and Married. I may not like it but I will cope it because it is what the majority wants. I still don'tike the idea of cheating sl in Archie.  I know evreyone wants this affair to happen to ethier puinsh  Archie for not choosin Betty in Earth veroinca or to break up the marriage to veroinca so he can be with Betty or both or just push the bonderies or maybe some combtion  of all of the above. But I don't like and I  tolarate it my soaps in Archie comics how ever I just don't want to go there.Espcalilly when  with Reggie and Veronica  a couple that always at best of times I wans't too exicted and worst kind of scared of as the cheating pairing.

Let's not forget that this series is filling in the gaps of the marriage miniseries, and Archie and Veronica stayed together and had kids (which Archie later abandoned to travel back in time and marry Betty).

I am not sure this is really what it doing.  I think this might be a differnt take on the marraiges all togther. I mean for thing I can't imagne Archie letting this Lodge any where near Archie and Veroinca's children. So maybe they do get divorced.

Divorce in Riverdale?  Unless you're Midge's parents, Riverdale and divorce don't seem to go together.  It's like...peanut butter and ketchup!

Riverdale is chanhing these day it's going to in to new places. The majority have spoken and they want Veroinca and Archie divcored.  They won't be happy unlesss in evrey single version of Archie  iculding fanon the only possiablity is Archie and Betty living happliy ever after and together. So tha't what they will excepet for Fanon bit. Nothing can stop faon from being happy place full of kinds of diffenet possiabilties, no one.
