  • Biollante: probalby, but 59 percent is considered a "blow out" in political terms, some people are on shaky ground right now, there was evne a conservative pollset that worked for Bush warning people that if Republicans are against things like gay marriage in the near future, they would endure catastrophic losses, I don't know if it's this political cycle, but the paradigm shift already happened a while ago

  • Steveinthecity: When Thor pulls the hammer back to throw, his momentum stops. He has always been able to float or hover once airborne, and he'll remain until the hammer comes back to him.  I guess the winds keep him aloft.

  • Biollante: ok so shouldn't Joe Quesada know that? lol  It made him look a bit stupid imo.
    May 21, 2012, 07:57:37 AM
  • Jabroniville: Yeah, that's odd- Thor usually has the Hammer out in front. Though I don't think it's ever explained how he can throw it while in mid-flight and not just plummet like a goof. I wish artists would stop having him do things like that :)
    May 21, 2012, 07:23:13 AM
  • Steveinthecity: @Biolante:  Thor uses the hammer to fly. He can throw his hammer during flight and float in one spot until the hammer returns to him. Don't know what Joe Q. was thinking there. I've never seen Thor fly on his own.

  • Biollante: Joe Quesada was drawing Thor on some Disney promo, and he drew him flying with his hammer on his side, now I'm not a Thor junkie, but isn't that actualy inaccurate, doesn't he fly by being dragged by his hammer???

Life With Archie: The Married Life #9 (spoilers)
« on: May 06, 2011, 12:09:46 PM »
I just got this three days ago at Wal-Mart and finished reading it last night. Here are my thoughts:

The extras regarding Lady Gaga were okay. I love that the live-action movie was listed as a plus for Josie.

The Celebrity Daydreams was cute. I didn't pay much attention to the other extras.

No Jinx? You have to go online to read the story (I can't find it)? Why? Does it cost too much to print it?

Veronica:

Mr. Lodge...oh, you know.

Betty's new hairstyle is weird.

POLLY!!!

It seems they're going with earlier continuity by having Polly living in San Francisco.

It's odd that, in this continuity, Mr. Lodge wants to break up Veronica and Archie, the exact opposite of what he attempted in the Betty continuity.

Oh, apparently, Veronica did take Archie's last name, but they can't seem to decide if it's hyphenated or not.

What's Mr. Lodge's plan that he's having Jason enact? Aren't there already photos of Veronica and Reggie in the Inquiry?

The Betty/Reggie scene in the Chocklit Shoppe was nice, but, after all of the talk of the vegetarian customer, I would have had it end like this:

Betty: "But enough talk of vegetarians. I crave meat!"

Reggie: "Oh?"

Betty: (sultry) "Uh-huh..."

Reggie: (getting it): "Oh!"

*NOW cut to exterior shot with Betty flipping the sign closed

I'm still not sure what Fred Mirth's plan regarding Ethel is.

Betty:

Georgia's sudden outburst in class regarding political killings is weird. Betty is rightly confused.

It's odd that Betty, of all people, asks "Doesn't it matter that they're trying to save Rome?" Is she just playing devil's advocate to challenge her student, or is there more to this?

Yummy girl in last panel of page 7.

Moose is genuinely scary.

What is up with Bella? Seriously, Ms. Wishes-She-Was-Cheryl is flirting with both Moose and Archie.

Turkey wrap. Yeah, I'm sure that she wants to wrap Archie's turkey in something.

I have no idea what Bella was getting at with "roast beef", though.

Mr. Lodge...oh, skip it.

It's cute how Veronica starts crying after Mr. Lodge orders her back to Paris but then smiles when she realizes he's hiding something from her.

Here, Mr. Lodge is using Jason to keep Veronica away from his Riverdale High plans. It's interesting that he's interfering with his daughter in both continuities, and he's using Jason to do it.

It's interesting that Reggie, not Archie, misunderstands seeing Veronica with someone in this continuity.

The way that the kiss is drawn, it looks like Jughead has swallowed Midge's lips.

Random cuteness in the final Betty/Archie scene.

Ooh, a shadowy figure is sabotaging Riverdale High's equipment. Could it be...Mikio?!

Nice issue. I'm looking forward to the next one.

Betty Cooper + Cheryl Blossom. It's inevitable.

Jason is but a pawn in the game of life... :)

I'm still getting over the fact that Jughead barely saved his Chok'lit Shop from being destroyed by EEEEEVIL FRANCHISES, and now he himself is... Franchising his restaurant into a chain. And not a single person has remarked on this.

Hot Miss Beazly's "Roast Beef" joke seems to be her placing two round rolls of it on the plate, pretty much exactly in front of her "twins".

And yes, it's great to see Polly again. I always enjoyed the fact that at least a COUPLE characters in Archie Comics had siblings. I mean, how many people have you met that are only children, and now thing of a group consisting almost ONLY of that. Now if only we can see Jellybean... this is what, five years after High School graduation (they didn't spend eons at college)? She should be 7 or something by now.

Curiously, I just read a review of the early stories, and it brought to mind a plot hook I'd forgotten- DILTON showing up at the first issue's end, talking about the multiple Archie Universes and stuff. They haven't touched on this since, which is rather odd.

The beginning notes that you can "see Jinx" on the Archie website, but I searched for ten minutes and couldn't find her. Is there something on their site layout that I'm missing?

Bella Beazly...wow.  Wonder if she's getting all that out of her system for fear that in 30 years, she'll look just like Beazly senior...

Offline Banshee

I agree. Bella Beazly certainly acts like a slut.  ::)

Did the Life with Archie magazine drop Jinx after 2 issues? Is there any reason? Maybe Archie is planning to give the teen Jinx her own comic book series...

Apparently, Jinx is going digital only.  Which sucks because I don't have the technology to download it.
