  • Biollante: probalby, but 59 percent is considered a "blow out" in political terms, some people are on shaky ground right now, there was evne a conservative pollset that worked for Bush warning people that if Republicans are against things like gay marriage in the near future, they would endure catastrophic losses, I don't know if it's this political cycle, but the paradigm shift already happened a while ago

  • Steveinthecity: When Thor pulls the hammer back to throw, his momentum stops. He has always been able to float or hover once airborne, and he'll remain until the hammer comes back to him.  I guess the winds keep him aloft.

  • Biollante: ok so shouldn't Joe Quesada know that? lol  It made him look a bit stupid imo.

  • Jabroniville: Yeah, that's odd- Thor usually has the Hammer out in front. Though I don't think it's ever explained how he can throw it while in mid-flight and not just plummet like a goof. I wish artists would stop having him do things like that :)
    May 21, 2012, 07:23:13 AM
  • Steveinthecity: @Biolante:  Thor uses the hammer to fly. He can throw his hammer during flight and float in one spot until the hammer returns to him. Don't know what Joe Q. was thinking there. I've never seen Thor fly on his own.

This is such an insanely funny crazy book. From the two art styles throughout the book (normal Archie style for the Archie characters, gritty realisitc style for the Punisher characters), to the characters interaction, to the sense of fun and adventure without any bloodletting and nobody dying!!! this was a hoot. Batton Lash did a stupendous job on the script, maintaining both universes as they collide. Choice bits:

--Red Fever, a druglord who looks alot like Archie Andrews, choosing to come to Riverdale instead of Ivy Town, Happy Harbor, and Gotham City. Red's other names include "Freckles", Mel Jay, and Montana Bob (after Archie artist Bob Montana). He comes to Riverdale hoping to get Hiram Lodge to invest in a new pharmacutical enterprise.

--Frank thinking about his family being alive in Riverdale.

--Archie being mistaken for Red by the Punisher and other crime rivals. Wacky Hijinks Ensue!

--The '50s dance at Riverdale High with tons of cameos! Including Sabrina talking about the Hoary Host of Hoggath, Katy Keene meeting Millie the Model, Dino Manelli (a member of Sgt. fury's Howling Commandos), and Patsy and Hedy attending a Riverdale Dance

--The Riverdale Police not believing Archie's story about the Punisher and the crime rivals, based on his messing up other busts over the years.

--Miss Grundy's crush on Frank Castle. She even gets a kiss from him out of it.

--The Punisher and Archie teaming up after Red kidnaps Veronica

--Archie's war journal. Just like Frank's but with Archie's POV and all the Riverdale trappings.

--The final fight, where Archie's clumsiness saves the day!

--and the final panel where Cerebro detects the most powerful mutant alive (Cerebro is a computer the X-Men use to find new mutants) and Wolverine goes gunning for him. The mutant: Jughead Jones!!!

Highly recommended if you can find it. :) :) :)

Five out of Five Stars!!!

I remember when this was solicited, it looked like a train wreck waiting to happen. I mean, this was in the Punisher's heyday! Of all characters, why the Punisher and Archie?! Suffice to say, I skipped this crossover but you have me intrigued. I wonder if current Marvel management would allow this crossover to happen today? It does sound like they were able to retain Archie's unique brand of humor on it though.

If they had the entire thing posted, I wouldn't count on it coming back, as posting pictures of an entire comic book (or even just pictures of a single story) would be copyright infringement.

Jim said--
" I wonder if current Marvel management would allow this crossover to happen today? "

(someday I'll learn how to use the quote button right)

From the sounds of it, probably not. Funny how a few years ago there tons of company crossovers... now they seem to be dwindling.  A shame to 'cause I really wanna see Archie and the gang in the DC universe, even if its only for a visit.

Archie really reminded me of a SCARED Roger Rabbit running berserk about in that Punisher crossover story! ;D

And a very, very, very unlikely crossover, too. That's like mixing Strawberry Shortcake with Thundercats.;)

I remember reading that one on that site.  It was pretty good, though.

Oh, I didn't know that the most powerful mutant alive would be Jughead!  I thought it something to do with that.  I wonder if they're going to continue with that one...

I doubt it. Remember the closing text? "The End? You tell us!" Well, it looks like we've told them.
