  • Steveinthecity: When Thor pulls the hammer back to throw, his momentum stops. He has always been able to float or hover once airborne, and he'll remain until the hammer comes back to him.  I guess the winds keep him aloft.

  • Biollante: ok so shouldn't Joe Quesada know that? lol  It made him look a bit stupid imo.
    May 21, 2012, 07:57:37 AM
  • Jabroniville: Yeah, that's odd- Thor usually has the Hammer out in front. Though I don't think it's ever explained how he can throw it while in mid-flight and not just plummet like a goof. I wish artists would stop having him do things like that :)
    May 21, 2012, 07:23:13 AM
  • Steveinthecity: @Biolante:  Thor uses the hammer to fly. He can throw his hammer during flight and float in one spot until the hammer returns to him. Don't know what Joe Q. was thinking there. I've never seen Thor fly on his own.

  • Biollante: Joe Quesada was drawing Thor on some Disney promo, and he drew him flying with his hammer on his side, now I'm not a Thor junkie, but isn't that actualy inaccurate, doesn't he fly by being dragged by his hammer???

Betty Cooper, Betty Cooper
« on: July 20, 2007, 10:14:26 AM »
A satire of Mary Hartman, Mary Hartman and other such melodramas, this multi-issue epic placed Archie and the gang in one outlandish, tragic situation after another. The characters spoke in hesitant, over-dramatic tones, and the narration breathlessly underlined the lunacy of the whole affair. Rest is here:Betty Cooper, Betty Cooper

Anymore info on this?  It has me getting curious...

When it comes to food Archie Comics, I'm an expert.

Hi ronnie343,

This series of books ran in Betty and Me #79-86 (here's the link for the covers):

http://www.comics.org/covers.lasso?SeriesID=12382

The plots included the Coopers being related to vampires, a serious car wreck, genies, Betty's possesion by an evil gypsy spirit, kidnappings... very over the top stuff, non-normal Archie fare. Its very much out of continuity and some of the characters don't act as they normally would.

On the other hand, I thought it was great fun... *shrugs*. YMMV, of course...

I remember reading one story where it hinted at the idea of Betty and Veronica being sisters due to similar red blotches appearing on their faces.

I also remember it being very strange that Reggie never made an appearance in the Betty Cooper, Betty Cooper title.  At least, not to my knowledge.

The only story I've seen in that series is the one that appears in the 1980s trade paperback (I don't remember what it's called).

For anybody looking for "Betty Cooper, Betty Cooper" stories, they were reprinted in several digests that were released between 1990 and 1992.  I think the majority of them ended up in Laugh Digests, if I can remember correctly.

I think it's called "The Best of Archie." That Betty Cooper, Betty Cooper story was where I first learned the meaning of the word "bloodcurdling." I think it's Ethel that screams in that issue.
