  • Steveinthecity: When Thor pulls the hammer back to throw, his momentum stops. He has always been able to float or hover once airborne, and he'll remain until the hammer comes back to him.  I guess the winds keep him aloft.

  • Biollante: ok so shouldn't Joe Quesada know that? lol  It made him look a bit stupid imo.
    May 21, 2012, 07:57:37 AM
  • Jabroniville: Yeah, that's odd- Thor usually has the Hammer out in front. Though I don't think it's ever explained how he can throw it while in mid-flight and not just plummet like a goof. I wish artists would stop having him do things like that :)
    May 21, 2012, 07:23:13 AM
  • Steveinthecity: @Biolante:  Thor uses the hammer to fly. He can throw his hammer during flight and float in one spot until the hammer returns to him. Don't know what Joe Q. was thinking there. I've never seen Thor fly on his own.

  • Biollante: Joe Quesada was drawing Thor on some Disney promo, and he drew him flying with his hammer on his side, now I'm not a Thor junkie, but isn't that actualy inaccurate, doesn't he fly by being dragged by his hammer???

CHILLING ADVENTURES IN SORCERY --info request
« on: December 01, 2010, 02:30:03 PM »
A broad-based inormation request.

There was a series, starring Sabrina, that was most un-Archie-like.

Title: CHILLING ADVENTURES IN SORCERY

A version of the various horror titles, with Sabrina as the "hostess with the mostess" to steal a phrase from Elvira.

How many issues?
Reprints available?
Digest versions?
Price?

...I BOUGHT both issues off the stands then , but they're long gone :'( >:( :'( .
They were " mystery "/Comics Code-approved horror anthology stories , but done nmuch more cartoonishly in style , and I suppose a touch or three more " mild " than even the stories in DC's Code-approved THE WITCHING HOUR , HOUSE OF MYSTERY , Marvel's JOURNEY INTO MYSTERY , etc. , of that time .
  Basically:
www.comics.org oughta help ya 8)! I don't really have time for a full link now :( .
Yes , Sabrina hosted the first ish , while Comics.org reminded me that her participation was pretty curtailed in the second - Which was the last . Under that format ::) ??? .
Then , IIRC , after a slight gap , Archie continued it , at #3 ( Latter-day comics fans probably tend not to remember that the " old-school funnybook publishers " pattern of CONTINUING an established numerical run whenever possible was standard WELL into the Seventies ;D :o! ) , under their Red Circle imprint as RED CIRCLE SORCERY , under the editorship ( And much art , natch :)! ) of classic artist Grey Morrow :D...At the same time , they switched whatithinkwas THE MADHOUSE GL-AADS over to Red Circle and changed the title to just plain MADHOUSE and , as with Red Circle Sorcery , put out a Morrow'd title of witches/the Devil/ghost tales directly competitive with Marvel and DC's , as I said above , a " real " horror comic , at least in a Code-approved sense...

John hooked you up already.  There are 2 issues under the Archie title - http://www.comics.org/series/2042/covers/

As far as I know they were never reprinted but they could have been reprinted in one of the many Archie digest.  I have the 1st issue and it very much like House of Mystery where Cain and Abel introduce the story.  I don't have the 2nd issue but I am told it is similar.

I came across one on ebay a few weeks back and was surprised that it went for around $12 in a 7.0.  They are not easy to come by and are in demand.  I'll check ebay's closed auctions for you right now.

I am not seeing any closed auctions for the 1st issue but it did end about 3 weeks ago.  Currently they are ranging from $6-$20.  But I think alot of ebay stuff is overpriced these days, mine included  :embarrassed:

There were five issues as Chilling Adventures in Sorcery, but, as mentioned, Sabrina's only in the first two (and barely at all in the second). It had the Red Circle Comics Group banner from #3, but only became Red Circle Sorcery with #6 (and lasted until #11).
