  • Steveinthecity: When Thor pulls the hammer back to throw, his momentum stops. He has always been able to float or hover once airborne, and he'll remain until the hammer comes back to him.  I guess the winds keep him aloft.

  • Biollante: ok so shouldn't Joe Quesada know that? lol  It made him look a bit stupid imo.

  • Jabroniville: Yeah, that's odd- Thor usually has the Hammer out in front. Though I don't think it's ever explained how he can throw it while in mid-flight and not just plummet like a goof. I wish artists would stop having him do things like that :)

  • Steveinthecity: @Biolante:  Thor uses the hammer to fly. He can throw his hammer during flight and float in one spot until the hammer returns to him. Don't know what Joe Q. was thinking there. I've never seen Thor fly on his own.

Let's discuss the forgotten titles!
« on: September 27, 2006, 10:08:19 AM »
You know the Archie comics that seemed promising, but only lasted a year...or even an issue?

Back in '89, there were lots of them...Archie's R/C Racers, Jughead's Diner, Jughead's Time Police, Archie 3000, Dilton's Strange Science, and Faculty Funnies.

I believe the only new title to survive in 1989 was Veronica.

Any other titles you can recall that just didn't last?

Not offhand. I read one issue of "Faculty Funnies". I didn't care for it.

I have one issue of "Dilton's Strange Science". That's one series that I wish continued.

I've read "Archie 3000" stories only in digests. I didn't care for them.

I haven't read the other series.

I wish "Betty's Diary" stayed, though.

I also wish I had more than one issue!

Betty Cooper + Cheryl Blossom. It's inevitable.

Betty's Diary was a really good addition...I don't know why they chose to axe it back in '91.  Oh well...at least they're reprinted in digest form.

I actually only remember there being 2 issues of Faculty Funnies published...and I know because I read them both. ;)

I think I've seen the Reggie and Me title a long time ago.  It wasn't too bad.

The one I grew up reading was Reggie's Revenge...a short-lived title that only had 3 issues published.  (at least to my knowledge)

How about "Betty And Me", BTW? Never heard of it.

While "Archie 3000" is a tad cheesy, I LOVE "Betty's Diary" stories! :D

I also like the "Betty's Diary" stories, although I like the "Betty Cooper Super Sleuther"  stories better.

I know they did have a separate Betty's Diary title for a while, but don't think it's published anymore. I keep hoping they'll make a separate title for the Super Sleuther stories as well, but that might be kind of hard to do since you could only fit one or two of those stories in there.

You're right, Oldiesmann.  The last issue of Betty's Diary was printed in 1991, months before Betty and Me just became plain old "Betty".

And BTW, how about "Archie 1"?

You know, the Archie characters in prehistoric settings.

I've seen some of the "Archie 1" stories reprinted in digests. I think they're rather lame.

There was an actual Archie I comic book? I've seen the stories in digests (mostly in the older digests and double-digests from the 80s), and think they're pretty funny. Not sure it would do well as its own title, but I do enjoy seeing them.

I also enjoy the occasional "Mighty Archie Art Players" stories that pop up from time to time...

I guess I'm one of the rare ones who liked Archie 3000 as much as Archie I.  I just thought that they were so radically different it was fun.

Actually, one idea for a digest magazine I wouldn't mind seeing would be digest titles for Sabrina or Josie and the Pussycats.  By now, they should have enough stories to keep a digest series going on for at least 100 issues.

I wouldn't mind seeing an entire digest of Josie and the Pussycats either, although I'd prefer that they leave off the silly leopard-print borders.

Agreed!

At first, I thought it was really cool...but now it's getting distracting.

Same deal with the hot pink borders in Sabrina stories in Tales From Riverdale digests.

at first when jughead time police appeared as a reprint in the jughead double digest i didnt like them i thought they were confusing but now i do appreciate them a lot more

they need to make a double digest with all these stories like sabrina the teenage witch, sabrina, josie, archie i, archie 3000, jugheads diner, that wilkin boy etc. in one without the regular stories
Archie Comics are my WHOLE life

Archie Comics = 781
Archie Digests= 370
