  • Steveinthecity: When Thor pulls the hammer back to throw, his momentum stops. He has always been able to float or hover once airborne, and he'll remain until the hammer comes back to him.  I guess the winds keep him aloft.

  • Biollante: ok so shouldn't Joe Quesada know that? lol  It made him look a bit stupid imo.

  • Jabroniville: Yeah, that's odd- Thor usually has the Hammer out in front. Though I don't think it's ever explained how he can throw it while in mid-flight and not just plummet like a goof. I wish artists would stop having him do things like that :)

  • Steveinthecity: @Biolante:  Thor uses the hammer to fly. He can throw his hammer during flight and float in one spot until the hammer returns to him. Don't know what Joe Q. was thinking there. I've never seen Thor fly on his own.

  • Biollante: Joe Quesada was drawing Thor on some Disney promo, and he drew him flying with his hammer on his side, now I'm not a Thor junkie, but isn't that actualy inaccurate, doesn't he fly by being dragged by his hammer???

Life with Archie #17 enquiry
« on: February 20, 2010, 10:52:18 AM »
I was browsing through some Archie comic covers online when I came across Life with Archie #17. The cover shows a very ill Jughead lying in bed with Archie, Reggie, Betty and Veronica all standing around the bed looking very concerned. Archie asks the doctor named Dr Tracey if Jughead will make it to which Dr Tracey replies, "I don't know, Archie. We'll be able to tell after his operation".

Anyway, I was wondering if anyone could elaborate as to what the story is about. A scan of the story would be nice but an explaination would do just fine.

Here's a link to the cover

Very dramatic! I'll bet it turns out to be his appendix needing to be removed or something like that.

You are correct! And he survives...

That is why I love Reggie.

He may be a bratty class clown, but he really cares about Jughead deep inside.:)

Yeah, the Reggie/Jughead friendship is definitely a relationship that is quite weird to say the least...but yeah, you're right.  There IS a bond between Reggie and Jughead.

Heck, there has to be some sort of bond between Reggie and the rest of the gang, or else they would have kicked him to the dumpster years ago.  I think Reggie is kind of an enigma character...he is kind-hearted, but he tries desperately to not let that side show.

Haven't read that one, but there's a similar story by Doyle and Schwartz in a Jughead comic from the early 70s (it's on the Bronze Age DVD). In that story, Jughead pushes Archie out of the way of a falling crate, but Jughead gets hit in the process causing him to fall unconscious. The gang, along with Mrs. Jones, arrive at the hospital where the doctor says Jughead is in a coma.

I'm not gonna spoil the story, so when I get home from work I'll post some pages. It's a very beautiful story, and Schwartz's style does a great job at capturing the mood.

Anyone remember the one where Reggie and Dilton get food poisoning from a shared cheese danish and they have to find Reggie (who's hiding as part of a bet/game) before he succumbs to it's effects?
That story had me steering clear of cheese danishes for years after. lol :D

Yeah, I remember that story very well.  Poor Reggie looked like he was gonna keel over any minute!
