  • Steveinthecity: When Thor pulls the hammer back to throw, his momentum stops. He has always been able to float or hover once airborne, and he'll remain until the hammer comes back to him.  I guess the winds keep him aloft.

  • Biollante: ok so shouldn't Joe Quesada know that? lol  It made him look a bit stupid imo.

  • Jabroniville: Yeah, that's odd- Thor usually has the Hammer out in front. Though I don't think it's ever explained how he can throw it while in mid-flight and not just plummet like a goof. I wish artists would stop having him do things like that :)

  • Steveinthecity: @Biolante:  Thor uses the hammer to fly. He can throw his hammer during flight and float in one spot until the hammer returns to him. Don't know what Joe Q. was thinking there. I've never seen Thor fly on his own.

  • Biollante: Joe Quesada was drawing Thor on some Disney promo, and he drew him flying with his hammer on his side, now I'm not a Thor junkie, but isn't that actualy inaccurate, doesn't he fly by being dragged by his hammer???

Looking for a particular JUGHEAD comic
« on: April 29, 2008, 03:27:01 PM »
Hi all! I'm looking for a particular Jughead story that I read in Double Digest (or possibly single issue) sometime in the early 90's.

Story: Everyone was making fun of Jughead because he always eats so many burgers so someone (Reggie?) challenges Jughead to a contest: if he doesn't eat anything for a certain amount of time, he gets a prize (presumably hamburgers!) Jughead wins the bet because when someone offers him food, he thinks of 3 other foods he would rather have instead, so he resists the temptation.

Question: Does anyone know the title of this particular story? Anywhere to find it online? I think this is a long shot!

Sorry, not familiar with it... Forsythe? Captain? Any idea?

We need to get some sort of story database happening!  It would be a lot of work, but it would be fun to have a section here on the forums that listed every issue of every title and we could all contribute story synopsis for the ones we had in our collections.

It would be a very big and long project, but I think it would be fun!

This would not be the same as the reviews.  We'd need a little form:

Title:
Characters:
Keywords: (food, contest, band, etc)
Storyline Synopsis:

Then, of course, we'd need to see if it was possible to enable a search of the inner message.  So for the above a search of "Jughead" + "Contest" + "Reggie" might yield at least some results to look through.

Just a thought.
No matter where I go, there I am.  Creepy.

Welcome to my world, Frank. Aside from the scant information and the GCD (www.comics.org) we do have a barebones wiki started for the purpose of being able to search the wealth of Archie stories out there. Anyone that's a member here is more than welcome to contribute. The link is http://www.archiefans.com/wiki and can be accessed on the naviagation bar on the left hand side of the screen. Ideally this would be a great place to work on story indexes and posting matching covers for all to see.

I haven't had much of a chance to work on it lately, but hope to do more over the summer. Right now my focus is the oddball stuff like the Riverdale High prose novels, the Bantam black and white reprint books, the Free Comic Book Day books, the graphic novels, the Halloween giveaways, the Mary Smith publications, the Spire Christian books, the Christmas treasury and the public service announcement type book. Alot of this stuff I've already indexed at the GCD. But there's lots of stuff that needs to be added and worked on the wiki. A basic knowledge of how wiki programming works doesn't hurt either.
