  • Biollante: probalby, but 59 percent is considered a "blow out" in political terms, some people are on shaky ground right now, there was evne a conservative pollset that worked for Bush warning people that if Republicans are against things like gay marriage in the near future, they would endure catastrophic losses, I don't know if it's this political cycle, but the paradigm shift already happened a while ago

  • Steveinthecity: When Thor pulls the hammer back to throw, his momentum stops. He has always been able to float or hover once airborne, and he'll remain until the hammer comes back to him.  I guess the winds keep him aloft.

  • Biollante: ok so shouldn't Joe Quesada know that? lol  It made him look a bit stupid imo.

  • Jabroniville: Yeah, that's odd- Thor usually has the Hammer out in front. Though I don't think it's ever explained how he can throw it while in mid-flight and not just plummet like a goof. I wish artists would stop having him do things like that :)

  • Steveinthecity: @Biolante:  Thor uses the hammer to fly. He can throw his hammer during flight and float in one spot until the hammer returns to him. Don't know what Joe Q. was thinking there. I've never seen Thor fly on his own.

  • Biollante: Joe Quesada was drawing Thor on some Disney promo, and he drew him flying with his hammer on his side, now I'm not a Thor junkie, but isn't that actualy inaccurate, doesn't he fly by being dragged by his hammer???

1968
...I believe it was the TV series , actually , it premiered in fall '68 .
I have read that 1968 was the year that " Archie " , the title , knocked " Superman "-the-title off of the " #1-selling ( per issue ) single comic post that it had held for a long time up 'til then...

Oh great ! another ancient topic !

I think the main reason is the Internet. Why would people go to the trouble of buying comics when they can download them for free from the net ? I agree it is piracy but if Archie or any other popular creation ( Mickey and his friends, Peanuts etc. ) have to survive they have to adapt to the net.

And the present Archie site is really tacky. I remember visiting it way back in 2000 - 2001, it had a lot more features and freebies than it does now. :P

Circulation should dropped even more in 2009 and 2010. By the looks of the Archie digest, it wouldn't survive for long.  :buck2: Teens still read, anime and manga books are a major competition to them, and the Harry Potter & Twilight crazes, not long ago I seen the Harry Potter & part 2 in movie theatres. How can the Archies survive to bring comics back to high school and introduce a new generation to the Archies, as it kept up with the changing times (i.e. Kevin Keller).

Make Archie and his friends more relevant. They should keep up with the times and not be shy of using GMail, GTalk or Facebook. Everyone uses these and they have become generic terms no matter what Google or Facebook may say :P

Otherwise they risk going down the road as the DC Comics heroes. Except Batman, almost every hero/heroine is involved in some strange fight which has no relevance at all to modern society.
