  • Biollante: probalby, but 59 percent is considered a "blow out" in political terms, some people are on shaky ground right now, there was evne a conservative pollset that worked for Bush warning people that if Republicans are against things like gay marriage in the near future, they would endure catastrophic losses, I don't know if it's this political cycle, but the paradigm shift already happened a while ago

  • Steveinthecity: When Thor pulls the hammer back to throw, his momentum stops. He has always been able to float or hover once airborne, and he'll remain until the hammer comes back to him.  I guess the winds keep him aloft.

  • Biollante: ok so shouldn't Joe Quesada know that? lol  It made him look a bit stupid imo.
    May 21, 2012, 07:57:37 AM
  • Jabroniville: Yeah, that's odd- Thor usually has the Hammer out in front. Though I don't think it's ever explained how he can throw it while in mid-flight and not just plummet like a goof. I wish artists would stop having him do things like that :)
    May 21, 2012, 07:23:13 AM
  • Steveinthecity: @Biolante:  Thor uses the hammer to fly. He can throw his hammer during flight and float in one spot until the hammer returns to him. Don't know what Joe Q. was thinking there. I've never seen Thor fly on his own.

  • Biollante: Joe Quesada was drawing Thor on some Disney promo, and he drew him flying with his hammer on his side, now I'm not a Thor junkie, but isn't that actualy inaccurate, doesn't he fly by being dragged by his hammer???

They already introduced Brigitte as the token fat girl.

Because, y'know, an overweight girl that continuously stays overweight is such a good role model.

Why not?

I mean, if you're looking at it from a health standpoint, okay.  But, what's wrong with people looking at plus-sized people as role models?

I'd rather celebrate a full-figured woman with healthy self-esteem, as Brigitte exhibited during her stay in Riverdale.  After all, as Natalie Green once uttered in "The Facts Of Life", why would she be a skinny pencil when she could be a magic marker?

I went to school during the Clinton administration- but I *guarantee* it will return after Bush gets the boot

You're actually crediting Dubya for something?

I only explained this so people who are now involved in the school system couldn't say "what are you talking about?" I think the liberal education stuff went away when Bush came into office, because I tell some people about this weird crap they used to teach us and they look at me like I'm crazy. I don't know what it's like to go to school "under Bush", probably some other stupid thing in the other direction, but I doubt they're telling the kids about their condom pockets.
Question authority.  They usually know where the bathroom is.

That's what I meant.

Do we ever see Brigitte trying to lose weight?

Betty Cooper + Cheryl Blossom. It's inevitable.

Sometimes it's not a matter of not wanting to lose weight, it's a matter of not being able to. A person's body, genetics and other documented ills -- like Prauder-Willie syndrome (sp?) -- make losing weight unlikely, if not impossible.

I think as long as Brigette is shown making good choices (i.e. not being a junk food junkie and perpetually lazy like Jughead is), that I would much rather her be happy with herself that constantly trying to be something she cannot be, i.e. super skinny. I think the same could be said for any of these characters trying to be something or someone they're not, Reggie not withstanding. :)

I think Brigette is a great role model with lots of potential.

I like Brigette, too. And I also like Betty (I also see her as an ideal role model, even though she's still an eternal teenager who lives in a fairyland where ANYTHING can happen anyway.) What's more, I DO NOT want her ever to age or gain any weight or anything like that, especially when she's the symbol of near-PERFECTION and I really admire her, too. (No wonder Veronica is so jealous of her to the point of catty putting-down and stealing potential boyfriends away from her in spite of their sisterly BFF status.::))

But is it still unrealistic that ALL girls have perfect bodies, skin, and hair? Or at least look like a clone with different hairstyles and clothes, of course.

I like Brigette as she is. Let's face it, not every girl has a body like Betty or Veronica's, just like every guy isn't build like Reggie, or slender/athletic like Archie.

I think all girls have perfect bodies, hair and style.  They're just all different! :)
No matter where I go, there I am.  Creepy.

That's a good outlook! :) Same goes for the guys! Besdies, what really makes someone attractive to me is how they are as a person, not what they look like!
