  • Biollante: probalby, but 59 percent is considered a "blow out" in political terms, some people are on shaky ground right now, there was evne a conservative pollset that worked for Bush warning people that if Republicans are against things like gay marriage in the near future, they would endure catastrophic losses, I don't know if it's this political cycle, but the paradigm shift already happened a while ago

  • Steveinthecity: When Thor pulls the hammer back to throw, his momentum stops. He has always been able to float or hover once airborne, and he'll remain until the hammer comes back to him.  I guess the winds keep him aloft.

  • Biollante: ok so shouldn't Joe Quesada know that? lol  It made him look a bit stupid imo.

  • Jabroniville: Yeah, that's odd- Thor usually has the Hammer out in front. Though I don't think it's ever explained how he can throw it while in mid-flight and not just plummet like a goof. I wish artists would stop having him do things like that :)
    May 21, 2012, 07:23:13 AM
  • Steveinthecity: @Biolante:  Thor uses the hammer to fly. He can throw his hammer during flight and float in one spot until the hammer returns to him. Don't know what Joe Q. was thinking there. I've never seen Thor fly on his own.

  • Biollante: Joe Quesada was drawing Thor on some Disney promo, and he drew him flying with his hammer on his side, now I'm not a Thor junkie, but isn't that actualy inaccurate, doesn't he fly by being dragged by his hammer???

Guess I'm running late again... bear with me.

What exactly are you upset about, Gottapenname? Lack of continuity in Archie comics? The fact that Betty and Reggie as a couple hasn't been done in a while?

Why do you think that her bringing out the best in him is not canon anymore? What make you think this way? Was there a story recently done that makes you think this way?

I feel like I'm missing something somewhere....

This has never been mentoined before by any of the Archie Staff, so it's  proably also been fanon talk. I think they are making the Reggie is  an  unreedmable villian as canon type.

Gotapenname,

First of all, don't believe everything you read on that website... they can't even spell Midge's last name (check it out if you think otherwise...) :)

Second of all, there is nothing there that takes away any of the things you see in Reggie. You see things that others don't. That doesn't make it any less canonical (is that word?). If anything, its up to you to tell us what you see in him and how he should be written. I don't think of him as evil or irredeemable, but I'd like to see your take on the character.

So there isn't a Betty/Reggie bandwagon like the Betty/Jughead one. Start one! Make it a grass roots effort. Make us care about the character you care about so much. Thats part of what makes for great fandom. I could list hundreds of characters that see potential in that's never tapped. It doesn't change them in my eyes, nor does it make me enjoy them any less. I can easily understand the hurt and frustration about not seeing a sequence or story that screams to you and is less obvious to everyone else. Don't give in and join a brigade you don't believe in, start here with us! :)

One of the things I've noticed here is that we all care very much for these characters, situations, and POTENTIALS! Not only in the comics but also from the other board members. We're here for you just as much as you're here for us!

As long as you at least stay "true" to Reggie's character, you can write what (and why) you like about Reggie.

Reggie isn't all black and white; he's grayish in some areas...he can be lovable and even adorable at times while at other times, he does act mean and repulsive.:) That's what makes him so interesting.

No need to feel insecure about being a Betty/Reggie shipper; I myself am not big on Betty/Jughead; that'd be completely out of character if Jughead allows himself to fall for Betty! :o

the problem is us Betty/Reggie fans are not active enough! all the related communities are dead. which is why Jug/Betty is taking over. Really, I LOOOVE Jug; but if he fell for Betty, he wouldn't be Jug anymore! and they seem like siblings to me, and i like that.
Jughead: I appreciate you, Ethel! Here! Have some of my dessert!

Funny, this site (the largest Archie-based fansite I've ever found) has TONS of Betty/Reggie supporters (especially among young girls- apparently bad boys appeal to them- who knew? :)), and comparatively few Betty/Jughead ones. However, it seems that a solid portion of other websites have at least discussed Betty/Jug.

Reggie's louse-hood changes based on the writer. In the old days, he was more villainous, while in modern times, it's about 50/50. He's kinda like the friend who hangs around, but brags all the time and is annoying. In most stories I've read, the gang at least hangs out with him.
