  • Biollante: probalby, but 59 percent is considered a "blow out" in political terms, some people are on shaky ground right now, there was evne a conservative pollset that worked for Bush warning people that if Republicans are against things like gay marriage in the near future, they would endure catastrophic losses, I don't know if it's this political cycle, but the paradigm shift already happened a while ago

  • Steveinthecity: When Thor pulls the hammer back to throw, his momentum stops. He has always been able to float or hover once airborne, and he'll remain until the hammer comes back to him.  I guess the winds keep him aloft.

  • Biollante: ok so shouldn't Joe Quesada know that? lol  It made him look a bit stupid imo.
    May 21, 2012, 07:57:37 AM
  • Jabroniville: Yeah, that's odd- Thor usually has the Hammer out in front. Though I don't think it's ever explained how he can throw it while in mid-flight and not just plummet like a goof. I wish artists would stop having him do things like that :)
    May 21, 2012, 07:23:13 AM
  • Steveinthecity: @Biolante:  Thor uses the hammer to fly. He can throw his hammer during flight and float in one spot until the hammer returns to him. Don't know what Joe Q. was thinking there. I've never seen Thor fly on his own.

  • Biollante: Joe Quesada was drawing Thor on some Disney promo, and he drew him flying with his hammer on his side, now I'm not a Thor junkie, but isn't that actualy inaccurate, doesn't he fly by being dragged by his hammer???

Then versus now?

This is more of an artist question but who do you think draws the definitive looks of the characters? Artists can be from any era...

For me:

Archie -- Harry Lucey
Betty -- Dan DeCarlo
Reggie -- Stan Goldberg
Jughead -- Samm Schwartz
Veronica -- Bob Montana

hey acf27... now there's a photoshop I'd like to see... :)

Archie-- Dan Decarlo/ Harry Lucey/ Bob Bolling
Betty-- Dan Decarlo
Reggie-- Dan Decarlo/ Stan Goldberg/ Dan Parent
Jughead-- Samm Schwartz/ Dan Decarlo/ Fernando Ruiz/ Rex Lindsey
Veronica-- Dan Decarlo/ Dan Parent

(and Gregg I'll see what I can do!)

DeCarlo fan here, if only because I'm not as familiarized with all the other artists. -_-,

Hmmm...here's my list.

Archie:  Definitely Harry Lucey
Jughead:  I like both Samm Schwartz AND Rex Lindsey's versions.
Betty:  Dan DeCarlo
Veronica:  Dan Parent
Reggie:  Stan Goldberg

(Though, I will say that I like how each artist added their own distinctive touch to Reggie's look...especially in his hairstyle.)

Hey...that gives me an idea for a topic...

I really like Fernando's unique overall look for the characters. He's very consistant and the characters all look they're having fun.

I would credit DeCarlo with making definitive looks for both Betty and Veronica.  Maybe my age is showing, but he is the artist I think of when I think "classic"  B&V.

That's funny, Veronica Fan 'cause if I'm not mistaken your avatar is actually a Dan Parent drawing...  :o ;D

Just giving you grief... :)

No problem, Gregg.  :)   Admittedly, I didn't look very hard, but I was unable to find very many Veronica pictures that I liked on the internet.  The current avatar is one of the few that I liked.  Certainly, if I'd looked harder and had found a good DeCarlo version of Veronica for my avatar, I would have used it.  I like the picture that is there now, but it is really just holding that space until I find a better one.

It's a great avatar, don't get me wrong... :)

I'll keep an eye out for any eyecatching DeCarlo Veronica avatars... or if you know of a favorite issue with his art let me know and I'll create it for you....

Archie - Harry Lucey
Dilton - Al Hartley
Mr. Weatherbee - Al Hartley
Hot Dog - Nate Butler (from the short-lived Jughead's Pal Hot Dog series)

Butler's ultra-cute Hot Dog isn't necessarily the definitive version of Hot Dog, but I really like that version :)

Gregg:  So very kind for you to offer.  :)   Most of my collection--such as it is--consists of digests, not comics.

Pep22:  How could I forget Samm Schwartz and Jughead?
