  • Biollante: probalby, but 59 percent is considered a "blow out" in political terms, some people are on shaky ground right now, there was evne a conservative pollset that worked for Bush warning people that if Republicans are against things like gay marriage in the near future, they would endure catastrophic losses, I don't know if it's this political cycle, but the paradigm shift already happened a while ago

  • Steveinthecity: When Thor pulls the hammer back to throw, his momentum stops. He has always been able to float or hover once airborne, and he'll remain until the hammer comes back to him.  I guess the winds keep him aloft.

  • Biollante: ok so shouldn't Joe Quesada know that? lol  It made him look a bit stupid imo.
    May 21, 2012, 07:57:37 AM
  • Jabroniville: Yeah, that's odd- Thor usually has the Hammer out in front. Though I don't think it's ever explained how he can throw it while in mid-flight and not just plummet like a goof. I wish artists would stop having him do things like that :)
    May 21, 2012, 07:23:13 AM
  • Steveinthecity: @Biolante:  Thor uses the hammer to fly. He can throw his hammer during flight and float in one spot until the hammer returns to him. Don't know what Joe Q. was thinking there. I've never seen Thor fly on his own.

You could always do what most people do Tuxedo and order it from a comic shop or buy it off the newstands. In fact, I'm sure either Westfield Comics or Lonestar Comics would be happy to get you a copy.

I don't order online. There isn't a comic shop or a newsstand in my county, and the local Waldenbooks doesn't have them, because the manager personally doesn't like comics.

So, other than driving over 40 minutes into the next county, this forum is my only way of getting the pamphlets.

A subscription sounds like a good idea. But why don't you order online?

I just don't. It would involve giving out my credit card number.

You can always send a money-order.  Also, if your local Waldenbooks manager doesn't like comics he shouldn't let that stop him from stocking them for those that do.  Sheesh.  Tell him you want them and write the head office if need be.

I agree with Frank's suggestion - there are many bookstores that, if you tell them you're trying to collect a certain series, they'll order them for you or, at least get them shipped in from other store locations... Good luck!

Opps - my bad.

You might want to suggest that she takes the time to look at one of the comics when they come in for you.  Archie had evolved with the times and now presents strong, independent female characters with intelligence, ethics and self-confidence.

If the store manager remembers the 1960's version of the characters, she may think more along the lines of fashion slave, boy-crazy. (one cover that comes to mind from the 60's is Betty and Veronica chasing a telephone around the school track and the caption "Coach has found a new way to get the girls to speed up" or some such sexist thing).

Today, the female characters are far more self-aware and a much better role model for young women.
She/her.

No, Frank, I meant she just doesn't like comics, not specifically Archies.
