  • Biollante: probalby, but 59 percent is considered a "blow out" in political terms, some people are on shaky ground right now, there was evne a conservative pollset that worked for Bush warning people that if Republicans are against things like gay marriage in the near future, they would endure catastrophic losses, I don't know if it's this political cycle, but the paradigm shift already happened a while ago

  • Steveinthecity: When Thor pulls the hammer back to throw, his momentum stops. He has always been able to float or hover once airborne, and he'll remain until the hammer comes back to him.  I guess the winds keep him aloft.

  • Biollante: ok so shouldn't Joe Quesada know that? lol  It made him look a bit stupid imo.

  • Jabroniville: Yeah, that's odd- Thor usually has the Hammer out in front. Though I don't think it's ever explained how he can throw it while in mid-flight and not just plummet like a goof. I wish artists would stop having him do things like that :)

  • Steveinthecity: @Biolante:  Thor uses the hammer to fly. He can throw his hammer during flight and float in one spot until the hammer returns to him. Don't know what Joe Q. was thinking there. I've never seen Thor fly on his own.

  • Biollante: Joe Quesada was drawing Thor on some Disney promo, and he drew him flying with his hammer on his side, now I'm not a Thor junkie, but isn't that actualy inaccurate, doesn't he fly by being dragged by his hammer???

Archie Comics in French from 1972
« on: May 31, 2011, 02:54:53 PM »
I came across my wife's old collection of Archie comics all in French.  I have Betty et Veronica, Josie, Archie, and Sabrina.  Does anyone have any idea what these are worth, if anything?  They are from 1972 and in decent shape.   Also, in the left hand corner it says Editions Heritage and Format Special.

Thanks for any info.

They sound like the French-Canadian versions of Archie.  I don't know if Archie Comics were ever popular in France, but I remember any time I visited Ottawa, they had both English and French Archie Comics.  The French ones I believe had the Editions Heritage logo on them.  I can't say for certain though.

As for what they're worth, I am no expert in grading comics, but I imagine that there are some price guides somewhere.

My French friend would probably like it if they still printed in French.  Don't think I'm going to buy them off of you though.  lol

I just got a whole bunch of them from Levis, Quebec. I agree with Captain, the ones you have are most probably meant for Canada.

I would say they are as important as any other Archie issue. For example, the ones I have, I just scanned through them and all of the stories are new for me. There are many stories where the Jug/Betty pairing is emphasized ( which make them all the more special for me :) ). Also some of the stories provide important clues about Archie, his friends and Riverdale.

I really regret not picking up an English version digest which had a lot of info on Riverdale, it turns out that Riverdale is quite a small town, only 39000 + people ! This would mean that Riverdale High is the only high school in the city, Reggie's father's paper would be the only paper published in the town and it is doubtful whether it merits it's own airport ( although with the Lodges around, you never know ).

If you planning to sell them off, I would suggest putting them up for auction on eBay, especially the French versions, Archie and his friends are read and loved by people around the world.

When I vacationed in Montreal, Quebec, Canada in Summer 2007 I saw a few French language Archie digests.
