  • Steveinthecity: When Thor pulls the hammer back to throw, his momentum stops. He has always been able to float or hover once airborne, and he'll remain until the hammer comes back to him.  I guess the winds keep him aloft.

  • Biollante: ok so shouldn't Joe Quesada know that? lol  It made him look a bit stupid imo.

  • Jabroniville: Yeah, that's odd- Thor usually has the Hammer out in front. Though I don't think it's ever explained how he can throw it while in mid-flight and not just plummet like a goof. I wish artists would stop having him do things like that :)

  • Steveinthecity: @Biolante:  Thor uses the hammer to fly. He can throw his hammer during flight and float in one spot until the hammer returns to him. Don't know what Joe Q. was thinking there. I've never seen Thor fly on his own.

  • Biollante: Joe Quesada was drawing Thor on some Disney promo, and he drew him flying with his hammer on his side, now I'm not a Thor junkie, but isn't that actualy inaccurate, doesn't he fly by being dragged by his hammer???

Hi! I'm an old Archie fan! :)
« on: November 29, 2008, 11:46:02 AM »
Its been over 15 years since I last bought an Archie comic. Guess I was tired of the lame attempts to shovel Jughead into a relationship with a girl. Maybe I was tired of the love triangle of Archie/Veronibetty, or maybe I just grew up a little TOO much and moved on to more adult comics, like manga, and my own writing.

But I saw the hilarious Christmas cover of Betty and Veronica digest (that expression on Juggie's face is priceless) and ended up spending about $30 this month buying all the Archie comics on the shelf I could find, memory lane back again in my head.

I'll save the 'how I got into Archie' thing for the Story thread, but I'm here, and I shall probably have to hunt down that four part 'realistic' look comic series about Juggie, he's one of my favorite comic book characters of all time, along with Garfield, Mark Slackmayer (from Doonesbury) and the cast of Better Or For Worse. I love comics! :)

Maybe I'll stay with Archie, or like Betty and Veronica maybe the cycle of coming back and leaving will never end. Who knows.

But Archie Comics, please please stop with the pushing of Jughead into romances! That is NOT who he is. (My only exceptions would be Ethel. I'm a bit of an Ethel myself, and I always root for her, really. That, or else he's gay. o-o *here's the stream of fangirl protests now, but I sort of thought it was that way for awhile too. ^^*)

Welcome!  You'll find a great deal about Archie comics here.

If you don't like Jughead in relationships - you may wish to steer clear of the "realistic" look series though! :)

The new Archie comics are really great - I'm a big fan of all era's, but I personally think the entire line is experiencing a "rebirth" of sorts - my opinion, of course.

Also - you have great taste in covers!  :)  The Jughead with Betty and Veronica cover is by one of my personal favourite artists - but you'll get to know everyone here soon enough....  :)
No matter where I go, there I am.  Creepy.

Hi again strangeseraph...

If you don't find the realistic Jughead four parter, it's being reprinted as a "graphic novel" early next year.

http://www.amazon.com/Archie-New-Look-Jughead-Matchmaker/dp/1879794381/ref=sr_1_4?ie=UTF8&s=books&qid=1228012619&sr=1-4

Also in this month's Archie Comics, ArchieCo is advertising all four books for a discounted price.

Welcome to the site, strangeseraph!

Frank - I disagree about steering clear of the realistic ones. :)
