  • Biollante: probalby, but 59 percent is considered a "blow out" in political terms, some people are on shaky ground right now, there was evne a conservative pollset that worked for Bush warning people that if Republicans are against things like gay marriage in the near future, they would endure catastrophic losses, I don't know if it's this political cycle, but the paradigm shift already happened a while ago

  • Steveinthecity: When Thor pulls the hammer back to throw, his momentum stops. He has always been able to float or hover once airborne, and he'll remain until the hammer comes back to him.  I guess the winds keep him aloft.

  • Biollante: ok so shouldn't Joe Quesada know that? lol  It made him look a bit stupid imo.
    May 21, 2012, 07:57:37 AM
  • Jabroniville: Yeah, that's odd- Thor usually has the Hammer out in front. Though I don't think it's ever explained how he can throw it while in mid-flight and not just plummet like a goof. I wish artists would stop having him do things like that :)
    May 21, 2012, 07:23:13 AM
  • Steveinthecity: @Biolante:  Thor uses the hammer to fly. He can throw his hammer during flight and float in one spot until the hammer returns to him. Don't know what Joe Q. was thinking there. I've never seen Thor fly on his own.

  • Biollante: Joe Quesada was drawing Thor on some Disney promo, and he drew him flying with his hammer on his side, now I'm not a Thor junkie, but isn't that actualy inaccurate, doesn't he fly by being dragged by his hammer???

Hi, I'm a n00b.

Um, thought I would make an intro post.

I'm know most places on the interwebs as *name removed XD*.  Don't really feel like giving out a ton of personal information, but I'll say right now I'm a freelance writer and trying to be a grad student when I can afford it.

Right now I have a subscription to Betty and Veronica Double Digest.  May get more subscriptions soon, B&V Friends Double Digest seems interesting.

One of the biggest things I like about Archie Comics are how the females are drawn.  I just love the Dan Decarlo art-style.  The girls are cute, attractive, and sexy in that style effortlessly, and it makes the comics fun to look at.  I also like bratty girl characters, and females with dark hair, so my favorite Archie characters are Alexandra Cabot and Veronica Lodge.  Cheryl Blossom comes in at a close third.

I also like really like Betty and Veronica because it's from a female perspective and isn't afraid to be girly.  Not really a ton of comics like that out today.  I also like other girly junk like Totally Spies, which I run a forum based off of.  Also big on anime with female main characters like Utena, Dirty Pair, a Little Snowfairy Named Sugar, etc.

And I will be honest, I like reading Archie Comics for the subtext.  I deconstruct most stuff I read or watch anyways, but there is plenty in Archie comics to keep me entertained in that regard.

I also usually read stuff to ship characters together.  Most of my ships usually end up being girl/girl though so I'll give you a hint, I don't ship Veronica/Archie or Betty/Archie.  XD  I don't know why I always ship the girls together, but it usually seems more interesting that way, and its just something me and my friends like to do for fun.  I don't think I will comment on that a lot here, because I sense it may still be slightly controversial.  I also write a lot of romance fanfiction in that vein, which is probalby one of my most rewarding hobbies, but I doubt I will be posting any of that here.

I also like reading other comics, most of them right now are from DC and Dark Horse and are obviously a bit more mature than Archie.  But it also makes reading Archie a fun change of pace, so that's definitely not a bad thing.  Other than that, I'm a fan of exploitation-era horror movies and oldschool hip hop.  XD

I also tend to write very long posts on the net, which you can probably tell by this excessively long intro thread. XD

Sometimes I can be more concise, but that isn't often. XD

I found this quite by random, and just realized I was the first one to welcome you here!   :D  Man, I had completely forgotten about this thread for over a year, and thought you were like, always a member or something.  It probably had something to do with you having WAY (well, 300 or so isn't a ton) more posts than me.   ;D
