  • Biollante: probalby, but 59 percent is considered a "blow out" in political terms, some people are on shaky ground right now, there was evne a conservative pollset that worked for Bush warning people that if Republicans are against things like gay marriage in the near future, they would endure catastrophic losses, I don't know if it's this political cycle, but the paradigm shift already happened a while ago

  • Steveinthecity: When Thor pulls the hammer back to throw, his momentum stops. He has always been able to float or hover once airborne, and he'll remain until the hammer comes back to him.  I guess the winds keep him aloft.

  • Biollante: ok so shouldn't Joe Quesada know that? lol  It made him look a bit stupid imo.

  • Jabroniville: Yeah, that's odd- Thor usually has the Hammer out in front. Though I don't think it's ever explained how he can throw it while in mid-flight and not just plummet like a goof. I wish artists would stop having him do things like that :)

  • Steveinthecity: @Biolante:  Thor uses the hammer to fly. He can throw his hammer during flight and float in one spot until the hammer returns to him. Don't know what Joe Q. was thinking there. I've never seen Thor fly on his own.

  • Biollante: Joe Quesada was drawing Thor on some Disney promo, and he drew him flying with his hammer on his side, now I'm not a Thor junkie, but isn't that actualy inaccurate, doesn't he fly by being dragged by his hammer???

Author Topic: I'm a N00b and an artist for an upcoming Sabrina fan comic!  (Read 525 times)

Hello fellow Archie fans!

I can't believe I haven't found this site before. I'd like to introduce myself as the Responsible Hooligan. As the title suggests I am an artist and for those who are interested I'm currently working on a Sabrina fan comic. Feel free to bump this topic since I am unsure where to post this.

The project was originally a redesign project as part of my thesis in graphic design. The idea was to turn something "low grade" into something "high class". I use those terms loosely because I do not consider the Sabrina franchise low grade (I respect it very much!), nor could my redesign be considered high class. I wanted to do my version of the story and target it for young adults. There will be no sleaze factor in this comic, as it will be very tasteful... only without all the silly "I turned Harvey into a frog!" plot lines. Also, no flying brooms, no witch hats and no talking cats. Sabrina will be very different, realistic and her magical powers suggested differently and mysteriously. All the original characters will be features: Sabrina, aunt Hilda, aunt Zelda, Harvey and Salem, as well as some original characters. I guess it'll be a drama, though hopefully not overly so.

I would like to post the images of the comic for you but all I will offer for now is the cover since I may pitch this to Archie Comics. There are sixteen pages for the first chapter and about three pages left to finish coloring. Maybe I'll post the first few pages if people are interested. There needs to be more Archie fan comics out there.

Thanks!

RH

Sounds very interesting, though I am a fan of the talking cat.  I think the manga Sabrina also took the tack of trying to present a more serious Sabrina.  There's always room for a good interpretation of an established character that stays true to the original concept.

You can post art stuff in the gallery here.

Good luck.

We can pitch things to Archie Comics? Will they catch it? :)

Anyway, sounds interesting and I think a slightly more serious tone could work really well with Sabrina. I'd like to see Salem battle his need for ultimate power vs. the bond he's developed with his de facto family. :)
