  • Biollante: probalby, but 59 percent is considered a "blow out" in political terms, some people are on shaky ground right now, there was evne a conservative pollset that worked for Bush warning people that if Republicans are against things like gay marriage in the near future, they would endure catastrophic losses, I don't know if it's this political cycle, but the paradigm shift already happened a while ago

  • Steveinthecity: When Thor pulls the hammer back to throw, his momentum stops. He has always been able to float or hover once airborne, and he'll remain until the hammer comes back to him.  I guess the winds keep him aloft.

  • Biollante: ok so shouldn't Joe Quesada know that? lol  It made him look a bit stupid imo.
    May 21, 2012, 07:57:37 AM
  • Jabroniville: Yeah, that's odd- Thor usually has the Hammer out in front. Though I don't think it's ever explained how he can throw it while in mid-flight and not just plummet like a goof. I wish artists would stop having him do things like that :)
    May 21, 2012, 07:23:13 AM
  • Steveinthecity: @Biolante:  Thor uses the hammer to fly. He can throw his hammer during flight and float in one spot until the hammer returns to him. Don't know what Joe Q. was thinking there. I've never seen Thor fly on his own.

  • Biollante: Joe Quesada was drawing Thor on some Disney promo, and he drew him flying with his hammer on his side, now I'm not a Thor junkie, but isn't that actualy inaccurate, doesn't he fly by being dragged by his hammer???

I've always been wary of the subscription offers myself, just based on the idea that there's always a possibility that the books could get damaged, or worse, lost in the mail.

Which is kind of why I'm glad I have a really good relationship with the manager of a Mac's Milk Convenience Store.  When I pop in the store every Monday, not only do I see them on the counter waiting for me, but without the sticker too!!!  This way, I haven't missed one single issue since December 2004!

Hi ACF27!  Thanks!  :)

Great collection you've got going there!  How many longboxes do 752 Archie comics fill?  Do you keep them in longboxes?

There are many online comic book shops that can set you up to receive every issue you like, in mint condition, shipped on a schedule of your choosing, and at a discount (which may cover the postage as well).

No matter where I go, there I am.  Creepy.

I just used mycomicshop.com for the first time today.  I was looking for a copy of Betty & Me #40 and it was the only place that had it.  I see they do subscriptions, too...I should really look into that!

6,550 fill 27 long boxes, plus a mag size box of expensive issues! I call it my 'if I had to run through a fire just to save one box' box!

Have we ever done a thread about the most valuable Archie comics?  I mean, other than just the "valuable because they're old" issues from the 1940s.  I'd love to know what handful of issues are most sought-after from the 1950s through the present day!

Off the top of my head for modern Archie comics, there aren't too many that are worth a LOT of money after 1955ish.  1950-1955 still sees books in the tens of dollars - I've paid $50-$70 for some of the annuals etc from the early 50's.

For really modern Archie's - I can only think of:  Betty & Veronica #320, Jughead #325 and the few books from the same era with the earliest Cheryl appearances.  Even then, these *list* at much lower prices and can be *found* at bargain prices.

Actually finding one and getting it is another story.  They will go from $15-$80

27 longboxes is a lot!  But what if you didn't want to store them that way?  :)

Let's say you wanted to "wallpaper" a hallway with all your Archie comics, and floor to ceiling you could fit 10 comics.

The hallway would have to be longer than a football field!  365 feet!

If you put comics on both sides of the hallway, the hallway would have to be 55 meters long, or 182 feet.

Okay, this turned out way less interesting than I thought.  I have too much time on my hands this morning.  :)

so 752 would be around 3 boxes??

the rule of thumb used to be 225-250 bagged and boarded, 275-300 no boards, but post 1990s comics tend to fit over 400 withour bages and boards, so the numbers would scue a little higher!

cracked me up

hmm 6,552 inches about a mile?
