  • Biollante: probalby, but 59 percent is considered a "blow out" in political terms, some people are on shaky ground right now, there was evne a conservative pollset that worked for Bush warning people that if Republicans are against things like gay marriage in the near future, they would endure catastrophic losses, I don't know if it's this political cycle, but the paradigm shift already happened a while ago

  • Steveinthecity: When Thor pulls the hammer back to throw, his momentum stops. He has always been able to float or hover once airborne, and he'll remain until the hammer comes back to him.  I guess the winds keep him aloft.

  • Biollante: ok so shouldn't Joe Quesada know that? lol  It made him look a bit stupid imo.
    May 21, 2012, 07:57:37 AM
  • Jabroniville: Yeah, that's odd- Thor usually has the Hammer out in front. Though I don't think it's ever explained how he can throw it while in mid-flight and not just plummet like a goof. I wish artists would stop having him do things like that :)
    May 21, 2012, 07:23:13 AM
  • Steveinthecity: @Biolante:  Thor uses the hammer to fly. He can throw his hammer during flight and float in one spot until the hammer returns to him. Don't know what Joe Q. was thinking there. I've never seen Thor fly on his own.

  • Biollante: Joe Quesada was drawing Thor on some Disney promo, and he drew him flying with his hammer on his side, now I'm not a Thor junkie, but isn't that actualy inaccurate, doesn't he fly by being dragged by his hammer???

How I Fell In Love With Archie
« on: February 04, 2012, 09:46:56 AM »
When I was younger, my mother struggled to raise me and give me what other children usually had. I have been read Archie comics since I was younger but I don't remember much of it. The memory I really remember with Archie is when we were walking through a bookstore and I saw a Little Archie digest. My mom couldn't take it away from me and she had no choice but to buy it. I read that one digest every day that it pretty much ended up in poor condition, but still readable. It was expensive for us so I tried to keep it that way. What I started doing from that day on was going to the bookstore and reading Archie comics there. The manager didn't stop me, I guess she knew I would be careful with it. I remember reading one story about Little Archie. It was a story about Sue Stringly and how the kids from her school made fun of her because no one would trade lunches with her. She had the same lunch every single day and it wasn't exactly very appetizing. However, Archie didn't make fun of her. I think Sue mentioned during lunchtime that she had a friend she was going to visit. Archie became curious and followed Sue after school. There, he saw that the friend Sue was speaking of was a cat that lives in a tree. Little Archie realized that Sue's family wasn't as well off as most of the kids' families in their school. When he went home, he took the money he was saving for his rollerblades (or were they ice skates?) and used the money to buy Sue some groceries. He left the groceries at the tree where the cat was.

I don't quite remember the rest of the story but reading that really taught me a lot when I was a kid. About how I should treat people and about my own character. It's just one of those stories that I will never really forget... And that is how I first fell in love with Archie comics.. It got me through the days that we were struggling and always kept me smiling no matter what :)

Guys, if you know what issue that story is in, please tell me  :( I've been trying to figure out for a while because I can't remember and I don't have the copy anymore. I really want to read it over and over again just like before...

I actually have that story too, but I don't remember what digest I have it in (I have a LOT).  If I come across it, I'll let you know!

And, my first Archie comic was a Little Archie Digest too!  :)

I've had Archie stories make a strong impression on me like that as well.

Can you remember the year you got it?  That might help other members locate the story since it would narrow the search.

I just saw your other post where you said you've been reading Archie about 19 years.  Do you think that the Little Archie story you're looking for is from 1993 or so?

It may be around that time or later than that, I have read Archies before but never really owned one until that day I forced my Mom to buy one. I'm not very good with dates lol. May be around 1995-1997.  :) I've been trying to find it on google but my search came up empty.

I'll ask my Mom if she remembers. And yeah, that's why I'm saving my Archies. Maybe I can give it to someone when I get older and he/she can learn a thing or two from it.  :)

Okay...it might not be the one you're looking for, but I FOUND the story.

If you can find a copy of Little Archie Digest #16 (the original version, not the 90s reboot), you can find it there.  The book is dated April 1985 and the story is called "Silver Flash"!
