  • Biollante: probalby, but 59 percent is considered a "blow out" in political terms, some people are on shaky ground right now, there was evne a conservative pollset that worked for Bush warning people that if Republicans are against things like gay marriage in the near future, they would endure catastrophic losses, I don't know if it's this political cycle, but the paradigm shift already happened a while ago

  • Steveinthecity: When Thor pulls the hammer back to throw, his momentum stops. He has always been able to float or hover once airborne, and he'll remain until the hammer comes back to him.  I guess the winds keep him aloft.

  • Biollante: ok so shouldn't Joe Quesada know that? lol  It made him look a bit stupid imo.
    May 21, 2012, 07:57:37 AM
  • Jabroniville: Yeah, that's odd- Thor usually has the Hammer out in front. Though I don't think it's ever explained how he can throw it while in mid-flight and not just plummet like a goof. I wish artists would stop having him do things like that :)
    May 21, 2012, 07:23:13 AM
  • Steveinthecity: @Biolante:  Thor uses the hammer to fly. He can throw his hammer during flight and float in one spot until the hammer returns to him. Don't know what Joe Q. was thinking there. I've never seen Thor fly on his own.

  • Biollante: Joe Quesada was drawing Thor on some Disney promo, and he drew him flying with his hammer on his side, now I'm not a Thor junkie, but isn't that actualy inaccurate, doesn't he fly by being dragged by his hammer???

How I got into Archie comics :)
« on: August 30, 2010, 09:19:05 AM »
I first started reading Archie comics when I was 4 1/2 (kindergarten), but most of the comic was wasted on me, because I really didn't understand the whole boyfriend/girlfriend thing yet but I kept reading them and when I was in grade one, for Christmas my grandmother sent me a giant box of old comic books, mostly from the sixties and seventies. I read them everyday, until I read one story, which, for unknown reasons REALLY scared me and I stopped reading them for about two years, maybe two and a half. And the worst, stupidest part is, I gathered up all my comic books (over 200)
and gave them to my friend for 'safekeeping'! And as you may have suspected, when I asked she gave me four comic books with the covers torn off when I asked for them. She had sold/stolen the rest! :'( :tickedoff: Anyways, after that I usually just bought comics from the supermarket or the used book store until last year. Some guy on Kijiji (it's like eBay, just local) was selling his whole collection of Archie comics! I bought 170 (ish) comics and digests for only 40 dollars.
And that was the re-start of my collection
Now I trade comics
Borrow Comics
And (duh) Buy comics
But I never, ever EVER am going to get rid of them or sell them again!
That is my story :smitten:

Mom let me read the old, worn-out Archies that she had read, in the 50s.

The Loony Goon,
And his Raccoon,

Sadly, all of mom's old comics, quite tattered, were discarded in a move, long ago. :(

I just recently started reading Archie Comics several months ago and instantly fell in love with all the characters and the storylines that the comic had in it.  I guess how I came to Archie comics is I was in my local News center store looking at the Teen Magazines and then just looked over at the comic section which was right next to the teen magazine section. I really wasn't into looking at the superhero comic so I easily found my way to the Archie Comics. The illustrations and cover art on the comics is what initially grabbed me so I decided to buy one. Then when I got home and read the Archies DD I just loved all the stories inside.

This is the first issue of Archie I remember being in the house when I was a kid.

It's from before I was born so I'm not exactly sure who bought it or why it was in the house!
