Another interesting prototype, "The POW Trio" appears on this LAUGH #189 cover, dated Dec. 1966. The Archies didn't make their first official appearance until LIFE WITH ARCHIE #60, Apr. 1967.

There were a couple of stories where they used another name. It wasn't The POW Trio but I can't remember the name.
That looks like some prime DeCarlo right there.
Barefoot Juggie in a top hat...that's pretty alpha right there. ;D

I remember the one where it's a takeoff on Beatlemania. The guys (including Big Moose) all don longhair wigs, begin touring and become a smash hit phenomenon, but decide to chuck their music career when it becomes clear that they'll never again have any kind of privacy or personal life. I forget what they called themselves, maybe "The Termites" or something similar. That story is in one of the BEST OF ARCHIE COMICS collections.

I haven't read that one yet. I want to say that one of the stories I am thinking about is one where there was a dance competition and Betty and Veronica were competing against each other. I think it was a story from the 60s maybe drawn by Bob Bolling but I'm not sure.
Nevermind about that story, they were already "The Archies"

Unless that S is an R ('cause it looks like an R to me) and they are "The Archier" ;D
