Archie Unlimited-really impressed, far more than I thought I would

Archie Comics Collector(Kalell)

I just started Archie Unlimited for $7.99 a month. Does anyone know if its been lower in the past? I am traditional paper digests but I have actually enjoyed the amount of comics I can read for the price point and I am loving it so far. Its easy to choose from so many great series and there's more content than I expected. I am not sure but if this continues I may enjoy the digital experience far more than I had hoped. I don't have to dig out any old comics or books and the brightness of my iPad and colors pop through seeing it all there. Any others enjoy the value you get with a subscription. I honestly feel I can get through far more content seeing as how convenient it all is and more content keeps getting added.

Of course it does not include the current six months of Archie print comics but then that is why I have the subscriptions coming in the mail. To be able to go through such a backlog of many series, digests, digital exclusives is awesome!

I hate to admit it but I am loving the brighter color and look of the digital comics versus paper where the colors appear darker and more subdued due to the paper quality at least in comparison to the digests. I still love my paper Archie Comics but I like reading Archie in a different way now. I still need more time to decide just how much I really enjoy this new way in comparison to how I was just basically only reading the print comics and refused to try the digital comics but when the price, content and convenience is right then I just had to give this a try.

I believe it used to be about a dollar or two cheaper 5.99 or 6.99 before the big app update. There also used to be a lot more (months or even years worth of) free content available without Unlimited on the old app but they got rid of that so they could actually make some money from the app. I was really impressed and excited when the new app first came out and was really saddened by how much people tore it apart on this site. Glad you're enjoying digital! I find I can read a lot more comics that way and faster than reading print.

@irishmoxie: I wonder who could tear this apart if includes so much content for the price. I am very new to Archie Unlimited but being a traditional paper comic only reader my opinions may change with more use but I hope I keep enjoying it. I think I get my money's worth just reading a few of the digital exclusives. Yes I don't get to keep the comics but the price for so much content I can read and enjoy far outweighs that fact

People were really mad it took them 6 months? or so to roll out an Android version of the app. The comics they had previously purchased via the app were held hostage because they did not have a compatible device to read them for 6 months. Also there is still? not a desktop version of the app and a surprising amount of people read comics on their computer.

I really thought hard about getting the Unlimited service on my Apple App, but when it came down to it having a copy in my hand and flipping through those pages with my own two hands outweighed paying $5.99 or whatever the price is per month for a lot of comics to read. There is also the fact that a huge chunk of the year I am a Phys. Ed/ Health Teacher in a High School and although the Phys.Ed. part isn't too demanding the Health part can be at times with grading and things like that. Also in the Spring I am the Girls JV Lacrosse Coach which also takes a huge chunk of time. I just wouldn't have a lot of time during most of those months to read my share of what is on the service so I determined for myself it is not for me. I am glad to hear it is working out for others though.

You can go month to month but it all depends on how fast you read or how much you read per month.

So you can have the subscription for one month cancel it and then the next month re-open it? I guess that would work, but it could be a hassle especially if they have any type of surcharges for signing up.It also leaves the fact I love having the comics in my hands.

I completely agree that I prefer the paper copies of my Archie Comics. But there are digital only exclusives plus certain series like Sabrina and other older comics that you simply can't get in the paper format as easily so Archie Unlimited becomes very handy. Although if the app is not being used very much its definitely not worth the $7.99 a month unless you do make use of its exclusives and older collections you can't get anywhere else.

That is my major problem. During the school year while I am teaching I don't think I will get much use out of the App.

There's no surcharges. You could have it for 2 months in the summer and cancel it.
