Title: Betty and Melody
Post by: kassandralove on February 24, 2017, 03:50:11 AM
Has there been any storylines where Melody and Betty have hung out together ?

Or any suggested Betty and Veronica Josie and the pussycats cross overs I should check out?

Please share pics! :)

Nothing to my knowledge -- just a handful where Archie, Jughead and Reggie have equal roles in the story. The closest thing might be B&V #271, that had a dozen or so guest appearances from just about every girl character in the Archieverse, but nothing that specifically had B&V and the Pussycats as co-stars by themselves. Then again, B&V don't spend much time hanging around with Cheryl Blossom, either -- she's their rival for Archie's attention, and now the same applies to Valerie. If you want stories that have B&V and the Pussycats together in them, you have to realize that they're nearly all Archie-centric -- the times when The Archies and The Pussycats co-starred as rivals in a battle of the bands, or toured together.

I doubt that Betty and Melody would have much in common as friends, anyway, apart from the fact that they're both blondes with sweet personalities. Betty has a wide variety of talents and interests, and Melody has... the drums. In the JOSIE comics, it's even kind of hard to make heads or tails of Melody's conversations with Josie and Valerie. It's not that Betty and Melody couldn't get along fine, but what would they really have a conversation about? They travel in different circles and don't even really have the same friends. Apart from that, I could see Betty more likely having a conversation with Valerie, who's more on the same level with her intellectually -- if they weren't already rivals over Archie.

Melody would be more likely to have a conversation with Jughead, based on a common interest in drumming, and the fact that Jughead is about the only male whose brain wouldn't short-circuit while in Melody's presence and turn him into a total spaz (BA-WOING!!) I dunno, maybe they could talk about how they once shared the same last name, Jones (until Melody changed hers to Valentine).

I doubt Veronica would like to hang out with Melody. She always wants to be the best, the prettiest/hottest and we all know Melody is this incredible bombshell. All the attention would go to Melody and Ronnie would not like that at all  ;D

I agree with DeCarlo Rules that Betty and Valerie would get along well, and I feel like Josie and Betty would too. But Melody seems to lack anything in common with Betty, and isn't really intelligent enough to have real conversations with her. (Although, Betty does tend to get along super well with everyone, so maybe she and Melody could be good friends after all. Who isn't Betty friends with, really?)

Slightly unrelated, but now that I'm thinking about it, I find it a bit strange that Archie never went for Melody. I loved he and Valerie together, and think it makes sense in a weird sort of way. But Melody never seemed to catch Archie's attention at all, and that is beyond strange for a guy with his track record.

I disagree.
Betty is practical & sensible, two words nobody has ever used about Melody.
Melody's malapropisms would drive Betty Batty.
And then...guess what happens when Archie meets Melody...no.
Betty & Melody are mismatched.

In the old forum's gallery there used to be a story where Melody and Valerie, or was it Josie (??) walk in to Pop Tate's and Reggie is there and goes absolutely crazy about Melody (lots of "Boing" and hearts coming out of him), but I can't remember who was there with him? Was it Archie? If so, he didn't really react when he saw Melody....Could have been Jughead the one who was with Reggie, though. hmm...
