DeCarlo Rules: I'm wondering now if that 9-11-2011 Sunday strip was the only one Dan Parent ever drew. IIRC the strip was drawn for the longest time by Henry Scarpelli, and then in more recent years (2000s) by Fernando Ruiz...  Thanks for the shout, Hanna!

DeCarlo Rules: They never say things like "cancelled". Things just come to an end. ARCHIE #713 came out six months ago, and there have been no new issues solicited since then...

DeCarlo Rules: It seems like my prediction of the ARCHIE series launched in 2015 came true... it lasted 5 years (or 47 issues, which would have been 4 years if it were published monthly). Oh well -- that was four issues more than Manga SABRINA...

Tuxedo Mark: Vol 2 of the The Riverdale Diaries graphic novel series is now available for preorder. It stars Veronica and will come out on November 16. Oddly, Vol. 2 is available on Kindle, whereas Vol. 1 seems to be a physical-only release.

Time setting of "Riverdale"

Okay, so it's established in the first episode that Riverdale High was founded in 1941. It's mentioned later in the season that they're gearing up for the 75th anniversary of the town's founding (which is eventually shown). Keep in mind that all of this occurs within, like, the first two months of the school year.

So is the first season of "Riverdale" supposed to occur in September-October of 2016?

And season 2 is supposed to pick up immediately after. Roberto once said he hopes season 2 will still be sophomore year.

So will season 2, airing in the 2017-2018 season, still occur in the 2016-2017 school year?

Or can we fudge a little and say the school was founded around a year before the town was officially incorporated?

Well, I got the answer to this when I watched episode 7 on Netflix last night. There's a close-up of the time card that Fred forges for Jughead. It reads July 11, 2016. So all of season 1 occurred during September-October of last year. Things might get tricky if season 2 continues to be set in the same school year.
