I want to know what Tim & Pat Kennedy are doing? They did great work on the last Archie. Anybody know what Bill Galvan doing now?

I assume you put Eerie Cuties here 'cause of rating, but to be more clear, I was drawing Eerie Cuties way before I ever drew anything for Archie. Saying it's something I'm doing now is not really accurate (plus, the updates that are going up right now are actually drawn by Fernando.) I don't see myself as an ex Archie artist. I simply didn't do enough work for them to say that they mattered to how much money I made in a year. Them not hiring me makes no difference to me money wise. Any time I did work for them was because I thought it would be fun, and I enjoy the property (especially Josie & Sabrina.) I think it's important that people get that 'cause I'm not suffering money wise by any means because Archie isn't giving me work. At most, I got/accepted one story to two a year at Archie. It was never enough for me to consider it regular work. Others have been more affected than me, and it pains me to see this happen. I hope all of them are able to find other work, and enough of it so that if Archie comes back to them, they can be a little more like me, and accept the gig 'cause they WANT to VS because they HAVE to in order to pay the bills.

Menage a 3 (rated R) and Sticky Dilly Buns are my current main gigs (Ma3 I started years before I ever did anything at Archie,) and I have another one in the works. Eerie Cuties/Magick Chicks will keep going with the help of friends like Fernando & Dan.

Honestly, I'm in a good place and have nothing to complain about. Sure, I'd love my chance to have a run on Josie & the Pussycats, but I don't run that company, so I don't call the shots.

Gisele, your artwork for ACP is very recognizable.  When I first saw Reversedale, the first thing I thought of was 'that's the one that did Penny & Aggie, Gisele'.  ;)

Hehe, thanks. Yeah, around the end of my run on Penny & Aggie (before Jason Waltrip took over,) my art started to settled down into what some would say is my style (and what you would've seen in the Reversedale issue.) I really experimented with my art on Penny & Aggie. I tend to not do that as much these days. I try to be more consistent for the reader's sake. :)

Jeff Shultz was also (at one time, I don't know if he's continuing) working on Boom Studios' PEANUTS comic book. Unfortunately, Jeff doesn't seem to have any sort of website.

I'd like to know what the Kennedy brothers and Bill Galvan are doing, as well. Also Craig Boldman and Rex Lindsay.

You can also add Fernando and Dan Parent to the list of people working on EERIE CUTIES. Both of those guys said they will have some announcements forthcoming in a little while, but right now it's too soon to say anything, when interviewed by Jonathan on this week's Riverdale Podcast.

Deb

The Peanuts Comic book seems to be publishing on an irregular schedule as of late, and I'm not sure how many stories Jeff Shultz drew.  They seem to mostly have Vicki Scott and Paige Braddock drawing the newer issues, mostly doing adaptations of old Schulz strips over entirely new material.

Thanks for the information. Sorry, this list isn't meant to imply anything about when these projects were started or how often any of the people listed worked for Archie or anything about anyone's financial situation since that's private until they decide otherwise. It just means what are these people who no longer work for Archie doing now, put in one list so people who like the Archie style of drawing can look up other places to get their art since we can't get it from Archie for now. Since you're not doing Eerie Cuties right now and Fernando is I'll change that listing.

This is probably news to some, OLD news to others, and maybe the kind of thing that even less people might care about. It's a bit of a fuzzy gray area as far as being on-topic for this thread, but let's just categorize it as a related topic by way of "Archie creators who did work for other publishers". If you happen to be more than a casual fan of Stan Goldberg, George Gladir, and The Three Stooges, it's certainly something you'd want to be made aware of, at minimum as an interesting footnote in their careers, and perhaps worthy of further investigation.

PAPERCUTZ (which specializes in marketing graphic novels to kids) produced a couple of THREE STOOGES graphic novels back in 2012, with art by Stan Goldberg, written by George Gladir (in collaboration with Stefan Petrucha and Jim Salicrup). In this particular instance, neither George nor Stan is an "ex-Archie artist" through any fault of ACP's. Originally 4 such graphic novels were planned, of which apparently only two were actually published. You can check out previews of the published Volumes 1 & 2 over at Papercutz' official website. >http://papercutz.com/kids-comics-graphic-novels/the-three-stooges

They also have a couple of reprint collections of "The Best of" the original Three Stooges comics published in the 1950s by Norman Maurer, a cartoonist who was the son-in-law of Moe Howard of the Stooges, in collaboration with his studio partner Joe Kubert. The two artists were also notable for developing the anaglyphic (red and green glasses) stereovision process which kicked off a brief boom in 3D comic books in the early 1950s.

I present the covers of the unpublished Volumes 3 and 4 below.

TANIA DEL RIO just had a new hardcover book (aimed at readers aged 8-12) published by Quirk Books: Warren the 13th and the All-Seeing Eye. I believe her last prior book was Betty: Diary of a Girl Next Door, published by ACP. As with the Betty book by ACP, the new one from Quirk Books is a novel told in text, although (also like the Betty book) it's heavily illustrated; this time, by artist Will Staehle (who does not, as far as I'm aware, have any prior credits working for ACP). Quirk decided to heavily promote the book by providing a softcover chapbook composed of the first 3 chapters of the novel to comic shop retailers free of charge through Diamond Comics Distribution (which is where I learned of it). Your LCS may have copies of the free 48-page (surprisingly substantial) promotional chapbook, which was delivered to shops last week, still available.

QuoteMeet Warren the 13th. He's the lone bellhop, valet, groundskeeper, and errand boy of his family's ancient hotel. It's a strange, shadowy mansion full of crooked corridors and mysterious riddles—and it just might be home to a magical treasure known as the All-Seeing Eye. But if Warren is going to find the hidden treasure, he'll need to solve several other mysteries first: What is the strange creature lurking in the hotel boiler room? Who is the ghostly girl creeping around the garden's hedge maze? And why is the hotel's only guest covered in bandages? Full of puzzles, secret codes, outrageous inventions, and hundreds of intricate illustrations, Warren the 13th and the All-Seeing Eye will delight and confound readers of all ages.

I just remembered I used to have Tania del Rio as a friend on Myspace. A looooooooong time ago. Ron Dante too.
I was also Myspace friends with a woman who had a  page dedicated to Archie Comics. I want to say her name was Beth? She was really cool and nice. Ahh, good times!

Thanks for all those links De, they look awesome. I changed the name of the thread to what I guess it should have been from the start.

BILL GALVAN

Wow, what are the odds? Last week I mentioned the (probably overlooked by most Archie fans) work of George Gladir and Stan Goldberg on Papercutz two original Three Stooges graphic novels in 2012. So what are the chances that the next sighting I'd make of an ex-Archie creator's work would also be in another THREE STOOGES comic book? I mean, let's consider that apart from the aforementioned graphic novels, there have only been a bare few original (non-reprint) Three Stooges comic books produced since 1972, when Whitman published #55 of a fairly long series which originally began with comics published by Dell and later Gold Key (which is really the same company as Whitman in all but name).

American Mythology Productions (www.AmericanMythology.net) now has the license and recently released a new THREE STOOGES #1 that contains an 8 page story with artwork by Bill Galvan. I'm not sure if Bill's work will be a regular feature in that comic, but American Mythology Productions is apparently expanding its comic line with lots of new licensed titles like Edgar Rice Burroughs' THE LAND THAT TIME FORGOT, STARGATE ATLANTIS, and (getting back to Bill Galvan again) THE PINK PANTHER, which will also be a FCBD 2016 offering.

Interesting footnote: When I headed over to American Mythology's website to see what info I could find on their comics, they also list our old friend HOLLY GOLIGHTLY among their list of creators contributing to their titles. Frustratingly though, after a brief profile of Holly's previous work, they never actually mentioned which title she's slated to be working on! A mystery for another day... stay tuned.

This looks cute, Holly G has a new book people can get for five dollars a month at patreon about two friends who decide to eat their way through Disneyland.
