A new Josie & the Pussycats comic series, featuring the exploits of Riverdale's most popular all-girl rock band, will be out in September.

According to Archie Comics, the new series will feature Josie uniting the band to take their big shot at musical stardom, only to contend with the machinations of Alexandra Cabot, the ever-Machiavellian daughter of the Pussycats' manager.

Marguerite Bennett and Cameron DeOrdio will write the series, with art by Audrey Mok. Mok also draws the cover of the first issue...

This looks amazing; if the writing is good, I think it will sell big time!

The Veronica Fish variant is really cool.  The attention to detail with the bands is great.  Can't believe there's a Shonen Knife poster on their wall.  Someone knows their girl bands!

I like Veronica Fish's cover is best out of the 3. I'm not huge fan of Josie & The Pussycats. But I will get the #1. I'm more interested in Archie & Jughead & Betty & Veronica reboots.

Unbelievably excited!! ACP is finally listening to the fans. I like Audrey Mok's cover the best.

C-can we talk about how beautifully Mok draws them? It does not help my unnatural crush on Melody lol

Also I hope they don't make Alexandra into a cartoonish villain and nothing else. (Like no character development.)

BettyReggie

I can't wait to see how Alan & Alexander will look. It would be cool if somehow they put Pepper in the story. She should be fighting with Melody & Josie. They should befriend her. And she will want to get revenge on them . And maybe get friendly with Alexandra. Maybe they could be a couple.

::) Is it just me or does the Francavilla cover look a lot like it's riffing on hs upcoming AWA cover ...  :(

Well, I guess we are seeing them spend some of that new finance money. Not familiar with any of these creators' work, but Audrey Mok's art looks okay.

Also spotted: album covers for Talking Heads (True Stories), Ramones, Run DMC, The Archies, a poster for Chuck Berry and Lloyd Price, and a Playbill for Hedwig and the Angry Inch.

They look similar to me. And those are the covers I don't like.

Right. 50s rock n roll is probably my favorite next to The Beach Boys.  The Chuck Berry and Lloyd Price poster that looks just like a 50s concert flyer is amazing.  Whoever came up with that idea is inspired.  Nice that they're celebrating two folks who are still with us too!  Chuck will be 90 this year and Lloyd is 83.

I wish they had put a better Talking Heads album on there.  Fear of Music or Remain In Light maybe, but True Stories I guess was easy to do because the band's name is so big it would stand out.

Alex and Alexandra's dad is the manager now? Where does that leave Alex?

All his covers look the same to me. He always draws those silhouette covers because they take less effort.
