Cheryl learns that she will not be allowed to speak at Jason's memorial. Jughead and Kevin discover that Betty is going on a date with Trev for the purposes of gathering information, while Coach Clayton pits Archie and Reggie against each other for the coveted spot of team captain. Archie is introduced to Oscar, who asks him to write his songs down. Trev informs Betty that Jason had become much more secretive in the weeks before his death, and was rumored to be selling drugs. Jughead suggests searching the Blossom family mansion for clues. Archie injures his hand during practice, and confesses to Veronica that he feels torn between pursuing his music or football. While cleaning the diner, Hermoine finds a box with a snake inside it, a warning from the Serpents. Cheryl attends the memorial wearing a white dress (the one she wore when Jason died), and breaks down during her address. Betty and Jughead meet Jason's grandmother, who mistakes her for Polly and tells her not to let Penelope know that she and Jason were engaged. Betty learns that her family has long hated the Blossoms since their great-grandfather cheated them out of their fortune years ago. Archie is named captain, but turns it down to focus on his music. Jughead and Polly deduce that Hal is responsible for stealing the evidence.
