When Fred loses his crew just as they're about to start construction, Archie and his friends try to help, making them targets for an attack; Jughead worries how his friends will react when his secret comes out.

I was pretty disappointed in this episode - I guess from some of the past episodes it appears as Polly was going to be this psychotic person and Jason has this weird dark past of manipulating women and dealing drugs.
That story line sounded way more interesting and gave better depth to why Polly was locked away.

This what seems like a change in story line isn't as good, and now Betty's father is being played more of a mad man then her mother way.

Way too many turns in the series! It's like they aren't sure what they were going to do until they if they got a second season or not.

Some things that I noticed:

Penelope seemed surprised when Cheryl invited Polly to stay with them.

Cheryl's "She should be so lucky" line seems odd coming from her, considering what her home life is like.

Cheryl jokingly wants to be named the godmother (after Betty was already named the godmother). Then Granny predicts Polly will have twins. Looks like both girls will get the role.

What did Alice mean when she said "You should know by now what I'm capable of"?

So Hal got Alice to have her first child aborted. Is this a joking reference to Chic, who's barely acknowledged in the comics?

For all of Cheryl's excitement at wanting Polly to come and live with them, she's not there to greet Polly.

I was thinking the same exact thing, because he doesn't exist in the show at all!

Honestly, I'm beginning to think he no longer exists in the comics. What's the most recent reference to him?

I was also starting to think the same thing about Jason (in the Classic Archieverse), but he appeared for all of one panel in "Cheryl and Cheryl Alike!" early last year.

I've been wondering what might have changed for Cheryl to go from telling Polly to avoid the Blossoms to inviting her to live with them. Did Cheryl and her parents have a little chat?

Then again, maybe nothing's changed, and Cheryl simply wants a big sister, so she won't be alone with her parents in that house. And maybe Cheryl's hoping Polly will divert some of her parents' attention away from her.

I seem to recall reading in I believe it was the first Archie book of reboot comics that there would not be "teenage pregnancies" in Archie Comics.  Oh well, the writer did say Comics, didn't they?  That's certainly not a change for the better.  They so rarely are.  The show is much too serious.
I totally don't understand the Hermione/Fred relationship in this show.  Hermione's husband just got sent to prison for embezzling a very large sum of money.  That would certainly constitute valid grounds for divorce for just about anybody.  She clearly wants to date another guy (Fred Andrews), so why doesn't she just divorce Hiram Lodge?  I don't get it.

Money, most likely. And promises for more money in the future.

I'm extremely confused about the ages. In the comics, Polly is several years older than Betty and already living out of the house with a job, so she's probably about 22 or 23 at least. In the show, I figured she was in college as a freshman (and of course in college in Riverdale; since no one ever leaves Riverdale- look at all of the adults). But Alice Cooper said that Polly never graduated high school? Was she a junior, only one or two years older than Betty? And was Jason the star of the football team as a freshman? He and Cheryl are twins, and Cheryl seems to be in the same grade as the gang, who are sophomores in the show... I'm very confused.

JonInIowaCity

The comic book characters are more like templates for the TV show. At most, Polly is a year older than Betty in this TV show.

Shuester

That makes sense. But Jason's age still doesn't. Unless Cheryl and Jason are actually older than the kids they hung out with, Jason would've been football quarterback and captain, as a freshman. From the way everyone talks about him, he seemed more like a junior to me...but I guess not.

JonInIowaCity

It's possible that the twins are indeed a year older than everyone else and that she shares some classes with the other Riverdale Gang. Or maybe Polly and Betty are close enough in age that they're able to be in the same grade. Or it just might be convenient for the story for them to all interact in whatever way moves the plot forward.
