  • Vegan Jughead: Ms. Grundy would have been a total surprise but it turned out she wasn't really Ms. Grundy so I can let that go.  Killing Moose after barely seeing him last year and Midge after she was in literally one episode (and barely in it, at that) seems ridiculous.

  • DeCarlo Rules: For a character franchise that's been running for 75+ years, ARCHIE really has a pretty small cast of regulars. Apart from the core 5 and the other 6 already mentioned, there's Cheryl & Jason and Kevin... and (filed under "extended supporting players") the teachers and parents. That's pretty much it. 14 teen characters and their parents & teachers. Sabrina and Josie and their supporting casts coexist in Riverdale, but they're really their own separate franchises. If your murder victims turn out to be Jinx Malloy and Cricket O'Dell, there's not much drama in it, beyond a shrug.

  • DeCarlo Rules: Why Moose and Midge? Good question... let me know if you can think of any other ongoing characters who are more expendable, but still well-known. I guess the other likely candidates would be Dilton and Ethel, or Chuck and Nancy. I guess you could come up with a short list of other names, but are they really that well-known? Ms. Grundy was a total surprise!

  • Tuxedo Mark: I recently watched Geek House's reaction to the episode. They're very amateur. They often leave in false starts and farting around before the actual intro. Joey often struggles with the episode title, like he can't just look it up before they start recording. Joey has to announce that he's putting the video into full screen and then does a countdown. Cut all of that stuff out! In the new review, he and his wife didn't react at all to Moose and Midge being killed. It soon became apparent that they didn't even know it was Moose and Midge! Joey referred to them as the "drug addicts".

  • Vegan Jughead: I don't think Moose and Midge are dead.  I hope not.  It's one thing to kill Jason Blossom.  Killing two characters who have been around for 68 years is something else entirely.

Shipping characters in the Archie universe

Discounting Riverdale (the crappy TV show) which characters would you ship?

You can include and mix Josie, Sabrina, The new kids, etc....

Reggie/Veronica - reason vain, arrogant, made for each other.
Reggie/Cheryl - same as above.
Jughead/Toni Topaz - reason both love food.

Honestly, I can go with most of the ships that Archie comics throw at me. But some of the ones I don't like are:

- Archie and Cheryl. It makes sense why Archie would want her, but she won't tolerate him for long. And it is purely physical on Archie's part, so it's pointless.
- Chuck and Nancy with other people. They go well together.
- Little Archie shipping. No ten year olds "date" the way the Little Archie gang does.

The greatest ship in the known universe will appear in my ongoing fanfic, one that J.K. Rowling describes as, "Much better than that dreck, Harry Potter."  Chapter 2 coming very soon:

I don't think she means adults dating 10 year olds.   ;D

I agree re: Little Archie. The book was cute and fun when they were acting like little kids and going on adventures but once it started dealing with romantic hijinks, what was even the point of having Little Archie stories if they were just going to end up like the main title?

Personally, I don't really hate any ships except for something awful like minor/adult. I'm not fond of Archie/Veronica or Reggie/Veronica because I don't find them particularly interesting.

My favorite canon couple is Archie/Valerie, pretty much the only relationship in Archie Comics with any depth.

Semi-canon, I like Reggie/Betty, the shippers on this forum really made me appreciate this pairing. They were fun together when they were scheming to keep Archie and Veronica apart.

Before the reboot I would have wanted to see Veronica paired up with one of the new kids, either Lonnie (Lonnie and Ronnie, how quaint) because he was a rich kid like her but a lot more down to earth, so I think he would have been good for her, or with Danny D'Angelo because I think he would be a good foil for Veronica.

Of course my main ship is Jughead/Veronica. They would make the WORST couple but it would be entertaining to behold.

I don't know, while Jughead and Cheryl have no love for each other, I don't think Jughead's quirks bother Cheryl as much as they bother Veronica. For people who cannot stand each other, Jughead and Veronica can't leave each other alone; they've always got an opinion on what the other is doing no matter how trivial it is.

And I just don't recall any interaction between Ginger and Jughead, but Ginger has become nicer since she has stopped trying to become a dialed down Cheryl, so I don't see why Jughead would have a problem with her and vice-versa. Then again in AWA he's a zombie and she's a lesbian, so yeah, I don't see that working out.

Better yet, Jinx Malloy/Anybody?  :uglystupid2:

Okay, you've got me there.  ;)

I only have two.

Jughead + Trula Twyst  - Actually pretty obvious with a close reading of the stories.

Dilton + Marcy McDermott-Lodge (or whatever it is now) - Actually sorta happened in Archie vs Sharknado, in whatever alternate Archieverse that took place in.
