Title: Are there any comics you gave up on reading?
Post by: BettyReggie on May 07, 2016, 11:14:21 PM
Are any comics that you had read that you have given up on? I gave up on Harley Quinn. The story is terrible now. When she got her gang of Harleys, the comic wasn't so good anymore. I quit buying it. I only bought the first 3 issues of Zodaic Starforce & I didn't like it at all. Sadly I'm not big fan of Jem & The Holograms now. The new story line that they had was crazy. And the art much better in the beginning. Even the Lumberjanes v hanged artists for some of the issues. So now when the solicitations come I really only for Archie by Mark Waid  & Jughead by Chip. And the Betty & Veronica reboot. I also must buy Saga. I love it.

There may be hardly a month that goes by that I don't give up on reading some title or titles, because I'm always adding new things to my list, so older comics series where my initial interest has faded after some time need to be 'pruned' from my reading list to make way for new ones.

All the time. I usually try to at least make it through one issue to give a new series a try but if the art is too bad or the story too confusing I give up early. The series I gave up recently was New Romancer after 3 issues and Patsy Walker Hellcat after 5 or 6 issues. Others I just put on "hold" for when I'm in the mood for them (i.e. on a long weekend and not after a long day of work. They are more "serious" and require me to pay attention more or have a lot of wordy dialogue. Reading them is work.) These include Saga, iZombie, Descender, Fables, Locke & Key, Southern Bastards, The Sixth Gun. Archie requires practically no work which is why I like it. I spend all day "analyzing" things. Sometimes my brain just needs a break.

The last two issue of Bat Girl had a different artist which I didn't like. Bring back Babbs Tarr. She's a great artist.

I need to catch up on my Mega Man by hunting down the final issues they had, after completing The Ultimate Betrayal arc, I forgot to read the Worlds Unite arc, so I have to fish out for back issues.

Can't say I blame you. You probably already read practically all the good one.

You can just skip the crossover and go straight to the last 3 issues. I did and it doesn't feel like there's anything missing in between there.
I'd be shocked if MM ever actually came back. I don't think it'll happen. I doubt the last three issues will be collected in trade paperback, either.

They cancelled the MEGA MAN MASTER EDITION VOLUME 1 collection, which would have been in the Best of Archie Comics format.

I started reading a comic book called "Bitch Planet" by Kelly DeConnick. I really thought I would enjoy it at first, but then it got pretty weird and it has to get weird for me to think it is weird.

I gave up on reading the rebooted Jughead after issue #4 because it was drawn like crap as well as the stories.  >:(

I gave up on Jughead after the first issue. I was never able to make it through anymore issues until Jughead #7 which I loved.

I LOVE Bitch Planet  :)  I am not sure whether I should give up on Jem though...

I gave Bitch Planet a try and I didn't hate it or anything like that, but it is a little weird.

I'm the opposite. Love Jem but Bitch Planet was too weird for me.

The last couple of issues of DC Comics Bombshells have left me struggling. I love the premise, so I'm loathe to completely give up on it, but I don't stress much about picking up issues as they come out. The Archie reboot has me on the fence, but I'll probably stick with it. I guess I'm stubborn that way. ;)

I don't really understand the plot of DC Bombshells. Just as I'm reading one story it switches to another character the next issue.

I really thought I would love that crossover with The Lumberjanes & Gotham Academy. But they had a preview of it . And I didn't like the art. Maybe if ever comes out in a graphic novel I'll read it. I hope I could order it from the library. Sadly the art in Jem & The Holograms hasn't been that good.

I've never read anything but Archie comics.   I haven't given up on them.  If I do, I guess that means I'll be giving up on comics altogether.

I didn't really get the storyline of the Lumberjanes/Gotham Academy crossover. Probably would've helped if I had more familiarity with the Gotham Academy characters.

Check out https://twitter.com/heyjenbartel. She is the new artist on Jem.

are you gonna get the latest issue of Harley's Little Black Book? it involves Harley Quinn somehow getting transported to the bombshells universe and encountering her bombshells universe self

I haven't been reading Harley's series, so I didn't know about that. It could be interesting, though. I may have to check it out. Thanks!

yeah Harley's little black book is a team up series that ships out once every two months alongside her solo book

it's basically a bunch of single issue stories where Harley Quinn teams up with a random dc hero
