Title: Does anyone go on The Internet Archive?
Post by: DeCarlo Rules on April 01, 2016, 08:23:26 AM
I was just wondering if anyone goes onto The Internet Archive.  It is a great tool, and a great idea.  The Premise behind it is that of The Library of Alexandria.  While THAT Library burnt down, and had no backup copies of it, this Library does!  They take out of copyright books, and they scan them in for the whole world to see!  I use the Internet Archive daily, and am currently working on downloading everything from the Allen County Public Library.  Have any of you guys heard about it, or do any of you use it?  If so, what do you use it for?

Heard of it and got a few things (H Rider Haggard, Burroughs, Lewis Carroll, Doyle, etc... ) Note that different countries have different copyright periods and rules (despite international conventions) and you can find some things in versions from Australia, for example that aren't in the US and vice versa...

This is the first time I am hearing of this Internet Archive, but I'm going to check it out.

The Internet Archive (https://archive.org/index.php) ← there's also Project Gutenburg (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Project_Gutenberg) of course, and many other media specific archives

I use it sometimes and the Wayback Machine!
With the Wayback Machine, I find things that no longer exist.  :crazy2:
