  • Tuxedo Mark: Thanks, but I don't buy the digests; I just read the new stories using Amazon's free preview.

  • DeCarlo Rules: @Tuxedo Mark - Well, they came out in comic shops, but I guess that doesn't help you. If you've got a regular bookstore (or supermarket) somewhere nearby, they should have the digest, anyway.

JUGHEAD’S TIME POLICE returns to the future in June

An Archie Comics cult classic centuries in the making is returning to comic shops in June with the revival of JUGHEAD'S TIME POLICE! The original '90s mini-series, a madcap sci-fi comedy in which Riverdale's champion layabout is tasked with saving all of human history, has long been one of Archie fandom's favorite storylines. In the revamped take, Jughead travels through time to right a food-related wrong that quickly leads to a battle for the timestream itself! Written by Sina Grace (Adventure Time, Iceman) with art by Eisner Award-winning artist Derek Charm (JUGHEAD, The Unbeatable Squirrel Girl), colorist Matt Herms, and letterer Jack Morelli, the wild new mini-series will run for five issues starting June 12, and could continue beyond that if fan response demands it.

"JUGHEAD'S TIME POLICE is a beloved concept that was screaming to be modernized, so once we read Sina's pitch, we knew we were in business," said Archie Comics Co-President Alex Segura. "He honors what came before but gives the idea a much-needed jolt. I can't think of a better artist to bring it to life than Derek, who had a stellar run on the main JUGHEAD title -- which kind of feels like a warmup for this!"

Interesting. I wonder if ACP will just start over the "origin", or pick up like nothing's changed. I'm guessing a new origin... 🤔

Well, that's pretty cool. I wonder if "Jughead Prime" is the same one from the previous JUGHEAD (2015-2017 R.I.P.) series? Too bad it's only a miniseries, but then again, I guess so was the previous JUGHEAD'S TIME POLICE!

Ah heck, since they're going there, why not line up new miniseries for ARCHIE 3000 and DILTON'S STRANGE SCIENCE while they're at it? Hey, even BIG MOOSE got a one-shot.

Archie 3000 is scheduled to get a collection in the near future according to Dan Parent and he has expressed interest in revisiting the series so who knows,.  Maybe it will happen.

VERY near -- next Wednesday! I never thought the original ARCHIE 3000 was as interesting in the execution as the two Rich Margopoulos titles (JUGHEAD'S TIME POLICE and EXPLORERS OF THE UNKNOWN), or even the mostly Mike Pellowski-written DILTON'S STRANGE SCIENCE. ARCHIE 3000 was more a product diverse hands -- the stories shorter, with no real running plotline other than "Archie in the future". In other words, if ARCHIE 1 was ACP's answer to the Flintstones, then ARCHIE 3000 was ACP's answer to The Jetsons. More could have been done with it, I think, but it was early in Dan P's career. I'll probably review the trade collection whenever I can get to it.
