Title: Archie's Weird Mysteries Cartoon
Post by: Upsiditus on June 01, 2021, 09:46:29 PM
This is a great cartoon.  The animation is very well done.  However, I was very disappointed to discover that the DVD does not include closed captioning.  This is particularly difficult to understand b/c the cartoon must have been closed captioned when it first aired in 1999.  Why wouldn't these DVDs be closed captioned?

I believe closed captioning is done by the network and is not on the original master tapes. This was evident back in 1989 with cartoons like Captain N: The Game Master. NBC airings were closed captioned; later syndication airings weren't.

Probably because it's a Mill Creek Entertainment product. They are legendarily low-budget, no-frills on all their DVD releases.
