Tuxedo Mark: And did they just tease a Pussycats spinoff series with that custom logo to close out the episode?

Tuxedo Mark: I just watched "The Return of the Pussycats", and it's definitely the best episode of Riverdale in quite a while. They're playing with the character relationships a bit. Valerie is with Alan M, and Melody is with Nancy.

DeCarlo Rules: I'll never figure out what the thinking is behind the occasional spurts of weird randomness in the jumbo digests -- but a new Wilkin Boy story is a new  Wilkin Boy story. As weirdly random as an appearance by Bob Phantom or Sam Hill.

This is a great cartoon.  The animation is very well done.  However, I was very disappointed to discover that the DVD does not include closed captioning.  This is particularly difficult to understand b/c the cartoon must have been closed captioned when it first aired in 1999.  Why wouldn't these DVDs be closed captioned?

I believe closed captioning is done by the network and is not on the original master tapes. This was evident back in 1989 with cartoons like Captain N: The Game Master. NBC airings were closed captioned; later syndication airings weren't.

Probably because it's a Mill Creek Entertainment product. They are legendarily low-budget, no-frills on all their DVD releases.
