Gwen Poole is a comic fan who got "displaced" during a multi-universe event ... her version of Earth is essentially ours, and she's read all sorts of Marvel comics so when she ends up on that earth she decides she's dreaming or part of a book/narrative and must be the hero — so she will win in the end and nothing horribly bad can happen ... and if she is the hero in a superhero world then she gets to be a superhero ... and starts living out her fantasies ... and things get ... weird ...
Pretty much seems like Marvel's answer to Harley Quinn to me... the adventures of a dangerously loopy chick.
Quite possibly true — her  view of the world is that it's just a story or video game (her mind holding on to sanity in the wake of the events that brought her to her current place, by extreme rationalization, so definitely loopy) and since she views it as unreal and essential a (violent) game for her to play she is totally fearless and has no second thoughts about killing bad guys or blowing up unreal estate ... so also definitely dangerous ...

You can't LIKE anything in the galleries. If you try clicking on "Like this?", you get a bar that pops up that says "LOADING ... " but otherwise does nothing and goes nowhere.
oh ... Sorry, thought you were talking about Squirrelgirl ... :P

How's gwenpool?
that's a hard question — it's definitely a strange book, self-referential mocking of the superhero genre; and that was the stated intent (more or less — do you know anything about it already?) ... I'd like it to succeed actually, but not sure if they're going to pull it off ...

Don't know anything about it or Marvel but the art looked cool.

I think the people that followed Fiona tried to copy her a bit but all & all, I think character models are out the window for this reboot. It's also probably why the "classic style artists" aren't asked to touch this in any way as what we'll produce might slightly look like the classic style. It has to be "All New, All Different... Archie!"
It seems like they don't care what it looks like, or for narrative consistency, or anything as long as it's different — like throwing things at the wall to see what sticks ...

"0-day"?
The day when new comics hit the stores ...

QuoteWow, I read a few pages into SPIDEY #4 and then just gave up. What a difference the art of Nick Bradshaw made on the first 3 issues of that book (which are slated to be reprinted in a one-shot deluxe Marvel Treasury Edition). Unless Bradshaw's just skipping an issue or two before coming back, I guess I'm done with it.
I wouldn't say the art made a real difference to me, but I don't blame you for giving up — I thought the first issue showed a lot of potential, but with #2 it just seemed ...  ::) aimless?  :-\ pointless?  :( I'll probably keep watching where it goes a while longer, but ...  :P

QuoteHENCHGIRL #6 (Things take an interesting turn in this issue.)
Definitely — may you live in interesting times.

0-day so I've read (so far):

  • Spidey #4
  • Spider-Gwen #7
  • The Unbelievable Gwenpool #1
Saving Princeless book 5 #1 for last ...

I liked princeless book 5 #0 even though it was more of a prequel.

How's gwenpool?

There's a story I have in BVDD #82 called Ride Like the Wind. Veronica is visiting her cousin Tate and his wife Julie who live on a farm in Kansas. I don't know if that cousin ever appeared in other stories.
Thanks, I'll try to get that; of course aside from being from Mr. Lodge's side of the family we also don't know where or how harper fits in either ...

If any one else knows any appearance for lesser known relative of character — mention them here and I'll compile a list ...

Remember that Berlanti doesn't work for CW directly — if they don't pick it up it could be shopped around and air on another network ...

I wonder are Leroy & Marcy brother & sister?

No, they're cousins. Leroy Lodge is from Hiram's side of the family; Marcy McDermott is from Hermione's side of the family. There was a story where Marcy's mom got remarried to man named Wells, but I don't know if Marcy or her mom's last name changed (Marcy would have to be legally adopted by her stepfather).
Veronica has at least 3 well-established aunts:

  • Elsie McDermott — Marcy's mom note though that we don't know the exact relationship "McDermott" could be a married name or she could have taken her maiden name back (technically we don't know if she's blood herself or if Marcy's father was a brother of one of Veronica's parents or what happened to him or even they were ever married, just that Elsie was a single Mom)
  • Lily —  definitely stated as Hermoine's sister, a new-agey sort with access to "mystic" items — has made several appearances
  • Gladys — the truck driving aunt ... several appearances, no indication of exact relationship (side of family, blood/marriage, etc.)
Leroy would have to be on Mr.Lodge's side of the family and could be a second cousin or remove since that's often dropped in day-to-day speech ... depending on details that ACP would not want to discuss he could be Marcy's half brother (though that's unlikely) ...

Personally I don't care what they do to the characters in the show at this point. I've read enough regarding their intentions that I have zero interest in watching it.

The only possibility that is potentially upsetting to me is that if the show (somehow, although the odds seem pretty well stacked against this) were to become a real hit. Why? Because if it does, it is virtually guaranteed to affect the comics published by ACP. They are sure to see that TV success as an indication that people want to read about characters who are similar to the TV show in the comic books. The last thing I want to see is Aguirre-Sacasa's version of Archie and the gang as comic book characters (AWA is quite enough of that), because you can pretty much bet that it would then become the main version of Archie. I'm not losing TOO much sleep over that possibility right now, since as I mentioned, the odds of the TV show becoming a real hit seem pretty slim.
I was thinking about this the other day, what if kids (tweens/teens) actually like the show and want to start buying the comics thinking they're going to be like the TV series and then be disappointed because the comics are none at all similar to the CW show, especially if they come across the Classic style, and then because of that ACP decides to change the comics to be more like the show  :buck2:
Sadly this has always been Archie's policy — Sabrina (all TV incarnations) are a prime example, but Josie as well — the entire Pussycats thing was due to the possibility of television placement ... and usually they jump the gun on it — I wouldn't be surprised to find that the entire re-boot Archie was based on their original TV proposal ...

As far as the Archie name goes I expect it to mostly draw in older people out of curiosity ... Whether they will then be more intrigued or disgusted is anyone's guess.
From what I have been hearing from Archie fans and I mean that by the fans that have been around for several years that most are disgusted with what is going on with this show. Many of these dedicated  Archie comics fans may have already decided to boycott this whole thing altogether already. I myself can't do that because I am the type of person that just has to see how it is going to go down. Is it going to take flight or sink? I would be dying inside if I didn't watch to see for myself.
Doubtful they have any concerns with the opinions of any current fan, long-time or not — it's the former readers whose interest they may hope to pique and draw in just to see what it's like ...
