They have cast some pretty crazy actor/actresses choices, but I think the porn star route is even going a bit far for ACP.
I would have thought so too ... a few years ago — now nothing is going to surprise me...

*shrug* mine is a contraction of "The Invisible Phan" ← a multiple entendre from university days ... the avatar from the same source (thanks Marsha)

I don't think they would stoop that low.
What makes you think that? Given recent history ...

Classic Archie is like stand-up comedy — it's almost entirely about the humour and just a mostly unrelated series of snapshots that have no connection or consistency ... really old TV sit-coms were like that too — you could shuffle them like card and watch in any order ... it has a big up-side in reusability for the publisher, and you can pick up anything anywhere and read/watch with familiarity, but we are long past that in modern culture everything in TV and comics, books, movies and life grows, evolves and changesm and people — particularly newer generations grew up with that and expect and want it — "what happens next?" comedy now isn't stand-up for the most part, it's part of the ongoing stream rather than a series of random vignettes ...

That's where Archie has been failing, and what the reboot is trying to correct ... the TV show is trying to make it something completely different ... (my 2¢)

It's not a very smart attitude considering that Archie Vs Predator sold an average of about 35 K copies per issue, a huge hit in Archie terms, and Archie Vs Sharknado completely sold out! Granted these books have the added hook of Predator and Sharknade, but the point is, our names didn't drive readers away. In fact, AVP was widely praised because it LOOKED like a classic Archie book!
I'd say Sharknado was a pretty rusty hook...

The first thing is stabilize the schedule — bring things out on a regular basis, and try to make that monthly for the flagship books; and that probably means getting new artists for some books — there are a lot of talented people who can do good art quickly enough and with enough versatility ... And tell Roberto that he can't work on projects in other media each month until he's turned in his Afterlife script (and gotten editorial approval!)

Princeless Vol 2 and 3 - #3 featured my favorite character: Raven.
Yeah, I consider Book 3 to really be Raven Book 0 ... did you read the short stories book which shows their first meeting from a slightly different view?

That and Vol #4 are on my TBR list.
The short stories are all either between books 2 & 3 or (fairly important) backstory; each has a different artist (all female except The Smiths) with a large variety of styles ...

I think if this show does have a few seasons where it does succeed it will not be because of the Archie Comics fans who are viewing the show but I think this show will only stay afloat because the teens will take to another teen drama that has been flooding the market for the past 10 years. Most Archie Comics Fans I have spoken to  or read things from show so much displeasure on the show.
It really hasn't much to do with Archie — it's just a vehicle for Roberto to make an unrelated show and use the Archie name for publicity. >:(

I'm watching old episodes of Beyond Belief: Fact or Fiction on YT. Used to love watching this as a kid! I was watching 11/22/63 but now that's over. I'm looking for supernatural stuff to watch.
I'd recommend Grimm (what I'll be watching tomorrow) ...

I suppose you can at least be happy there's at least one other Archie fan at or near your library system ... :-\

The jughead artwork was so brutal I didn't even finish reading issue one- I can't believe they hired that artist. It looks like scribbles
Even in the new Archie relaunch I find that some areas are really sloppy and rushed- Like they forget how to draw thing proportionally.
If one intends to draw a comics that's intended to look like more than kids cartoons you really need to have a basic understanding of anatomy — which Henderson does not demonstrate ... and even for a completely surreal cartoon you have to be consistent to make it work — again, not evident in her work ...

it's more like bad fan art from someone with raw talent, but no training.

I wonder who they are referring to? A lesbian kiss between Betty and Veronica?
That would be Archie & Jughead ...

I wonder why they made the show "edgy"?

Becathey want to tarnish the company as a whole.  I hope ACP "dies" as an independent, and is bought out by Disney.
Whatever else, not Disney — though the style/values might be a good match — Disney already owns Marvel, so they'd be merged (they wouldn't have two separate comics publishing wings) and Marvel would obviously dominate — it would likely be great for the Dark Circle imprint, but not classic Archie. IDW or Dark Horse already have contacts and sensitivities to the classic material and would be a better fit (if they could afford it) ...

As for Archie ... interesting to see Mr. Mantle for a change, and the interaction there ... it was an okay issue, nothing spectacular, but good.
Also the latest Henchgirl (#6) & working through PS238 ...

QuoteAnd if they changed Archie's race I think we'd all be scratching our heads because of his signature look. I believe he had an Irish/Scottish background?
Like I said before Archie is very multicultural as is, if they just add all characters in so will the show.
They could make new characters of different ethnic groups but the cast of famous Archie characters is already very large so I don't see them wanting to do that.
The stupid thing is that they aren't even trying to use the character they do have Chuck & Nancy, Valerie's brother Trevor, Ginger Lopez (even if Maria & Frankie are deemed too nearly forgotten) and if they want actual diversity & relatability why isn't Ethel there, or Brigette? Because anyone who isn't unrealistically beautiful and young isn't on the agenda? So the teachers and parent get a makeover? So much for any sort of actual realism ...

QuoteExtremely curious to see what they do with Jugheads Hat.. Wondering If they will end up scraping it- and if so tables will be flipped.
Probably will be scrapped. I don't see how it can work in this interpretation of the comics. Maybe it will just be a regular beanie that he wears.
Was it before the crash that I suggested a turned ball cap, or something of that ilk? without something I don't see the point of even calling him Jughead ...
