There's a lot there that I won't disagree with — passion or no, but ...

QuoteCould it be good? Yes
Nope, it's going to suck.
The show as a whole may not on it's own terms — it will definitely suck at being Archie.

QuoteEveryone involved is at fault for what this turned into, and that goes straight to the top of the company.
You should not blame the cast or crew — they get next to no creative input, not even Luke Perry could rewrite more than trivia even for his own character ... most probably don't know lots more than the name anyway and are just trying to get by ... blame the people who created it and the Archie management who support it and such, yes, but only them.

I saw it years ago and at the time it struck me as very similar to eerie cuties but I didn't get into it .. That was around the time they both started.

I don't count it out yet ... Marvel has her on their Jessica Jones Netflix series and looks like that role will expand so they may keep it going even with sluggish sales until that plays out and see if it helps.

Silly question but Invisifan is the original Decarlo rules?
I got lost in the read
I'm just me — before the restart, after and in-between ...

Just read through Kirkman's Outcast ... which will be on TV starting in June — already renewed for a second season  ::) which I did not know when I started last night ...  dark, S-F hiding in a religion-theme, and not for everyone — but hey, he also writes the Walking Dead ...

I found it pretty easy to find '90s Archies.  Of course, that might be because I bought all of them in the '90s when they came out...   ::)
::) So you're one of the people who loved it & kept it I guess ...  :-\

P.S. I didn't like Patsy Walker #4 either. Too superhero for me. Not enough girlie stuff.
Rather has to come with the territory — if there's no superhero content too early on the Marvel regulars won't pick it up and it has no chance to grow on them — or for anyone else to discover it ...  so it's part of the world she has to deal with ...

Most anything from the '90s is hard too — as bad as from the '60s at least — they tried to diversify and "re-invent" a lot of stuff then and people either loved it & kept it, or more often hated it and trashed any they had bought (a lot was pretty weird at the time)

Well they have to put a bunch of old content in just to justify the name — which is a big part of the draw obviously ... and a gamble — they are somewhat burning their bridges with it it seems, especially if it makes it on the air ...

You obviously weren't here much before the forum was reset ... it won't be an Archie any of us knows certainly — I look at it as a separate Archieverse

That's awesome! Do you guys get your stuff online a lot of the time?

I'm always hesitant to because I really love going to stores and going through all the old stuff but I can't believe how difficult it's been to actually find old Archie issues.
When comics started to be described as "collectibles" in the mid-1970s Archie comics weren't thought of in the same light — they were considered throwaway fluff for kids, so the vast majority were just thrown away ... even (especially) if they were kept they were well used, often drawn in or worse, and stored in poor conditions ... so they are exceedingly rare today (though still not in demand so the prices are usually comparatively trivial if you can find them at all — and people don't bother selling them since they don't go for much ...

The oldest physical copies I have are actually "Archie Adventure" imprints from the early '60s (the Fly & the Jaguar) ...

I read my digital copy of Jughead #5. It finally worked from the Archie app. It was alright. I think the other 4 were better though. I don't like it when they change into super heros.
The Superhero parodies are always a bit inane, but at least this one is framed as a definite dream sequence (and and as superhero stories go it wasn't bad, so bonus)

The Archie Horror material comes back late May/early June (hopefully) and it is one of the many Archieverses ... Dark Circle is totally separate really — it would fit better in a "other comics" section.  We do digress into other comics a lot — related works by theme or Archie artists, etc ... so maybe that  should be a category in General and talk about Dark Circle there — and Archie Horror up into a subcategory of the Everything forum?

The Internet Archive ← there's also Project Gutenburg of course, and many other media specific archives
