An Archie like character is getting married, and his best friend "Joghead" has arrived to get the bride... :2funny:

Well, DR, I  assumed FQ was one of your favorite comics, so I added it. 😆

Still confused, SAGG. What do you mean you added it? Where did you add it? Was there an old thread here somewhere about "Your favorite comics" that I somehow forgot about? On THIS thread, I just list all the comics I read, whether they're my favorites or not.
Urg. Just--we'll let it go, buddy... 🤔

One Punch Man is awesome, dude!! :P Have you seen the anime yet? Hmmm--no Future Quest, buddy. I thought it was your favorite DC comic.... :)

One-Punch Man is indeed awesome! It's practically a re-invention of the whole superhero genre. I haven't seen the anime yet, but this volume has a couple of "congrats" and "thank you's" regarding the anime. Hard to believe this all started as a webcomic, then it went viral with over a million hits, and then began appearing in print in Shonen Jump (which is the best-selling comic in Japan), before being collected as paperbacks, and eventually translated to English -- and that whole journey was remarkably short. That sort of makes the whole Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles thing back in the 80s look like a mere fluke by comparison, because the webmanga was a huge success BEFORE anything else, the print version OR the anime got made. I'll probably just wait and get the whole anime series on DVD when it comes out.

???  Future Quest #4 came out at the end of July, so I'm not sure which issue you're talking about. I read that a couple of weeks ago, and there hasn't been a new one since then. It was on my list back at the top of Page 39 of this thread. #5 isn't due out until the first week in October.

For some strange reason, all of those DC Rebirth titles that I still read ALL come out the same week. Except maybe for Titans and Hellblazer, I think. I know I don't have any DCs on my "to read" list for next week, and some weeks I have no Marvels to read. Sometimes just one like this week (Gods of War #4, which is really a continuation of Hercules) or two or three, like next week (Ant-Man #12, Patsy Walker #10 and Punisher #5). Normally I just borrow the Marvels to read (and get the trade paperbacks later), except for Patsy Walker. I don't know if I'll be getting any of those DC Rebirth titles as trade paperbacks. I kind of doubt it. Maybe Detective Comics, or possibly Hellblazer (haven't read enough issues yet to decide) if anything. The only DCs I buy now as floppy comics are Batman '66, Wonder Woman '77, Scooby-Doo Team-Up and Future Quest, and I still get the trade paperbacks (hardcover in the case of Batman '66) later!
I responded because you didn't have FQ on your favorite comics list at all. :)  Meanwhile, I'm reading OPM on my computer, catching up on it. In case you're interested, or don't know, it comes on Saturday night/Sunday mornings on Adult Swim...

Other Media / Re: Josie and the Pussycats (cartoon)

What's everyone's thoughts on the old Josie cartoon series?

Personally, I kinda like it (more than the Filmation cartoons, anyway). It's cheesy, dorky fun. It's not so much "Josie and the Pussycats" as it is "Josie and Friends Play Scooby-Doo". I'd much rather watch this than Scooby, though.

Here's a video of a "Musical Evolution" of the band that Cartoon Network did (it also happens to be one of the oldest videos on YouTube!):

The first cartoon  (versus the outer space one, which was deplorable to me) is great. Too bad Hanna  Barbarra didn't make more original ones. It started the musical bands solving mysteries cartoons that  H-B copied over and over afterwards...

General Discussion / Re: Sears/Kmart
September 12, 2016, 04:21:34 PM
Quote from: Tuxedo Mark on September 12, 2016, 12:50:04 PM
Back on the old forum, I often talked about my experiences working for Kmart (which merged with Sears in 2005, the merger being the brainchild of chairman Eddie Lampert, a Wall Street hedge fund manager with no previous retail experience that, after one person after another vacated the CEO position, decided to become the CEO himself), the pressure from management to sign customers up for the Sears credit card and the all-important Shop Your Way Rewards card, and other crap, and I supplemented these personal accounts with info from news articles about the company at large, which was doing poorly.

A lot of people, even back then, expected the company to go out of business soon. Well, it's still around but probably not for much longer (for real, this time). This pair of articles illustrates just how far that the company and the individual stores have fallen:

From the workers: http://www.msn.com/en-us/money/topstories/sears-workers-reveal-why-the-company-is-bleeding-cash/ar-AAiaq4S?li=BBnbfcL&ocid=UP97DHP

From the customers: http://www.msn.com/en-us/money/companies/it-was-a-ghost-town-shoppers-reveal-why-theyve-abandoned-sears-and-kmart/ar-AAiKhLa?li=BBnbfcL&ocid=UP97DHP
Sigh--how the mighty have fallen. :(  Wal-Mart's really wiped out a lot of iconic name retail stores, and is still in the process of doing so. Sears screwed itself up when they ditched their catalog business.

Quick fact: I didn't know Sam Walton worked once for Kmart! :o They dissed him by not listening to his ideas to improve the business, he went rogue by starting his own business, and he more than got his revenge...

All About Archie / Re: Archie The Fink
September 11, 2016, 08:37:47 AM
You know, I think Archie is the most multi-faceted character in Archie Comics. He's a jerk and a cad with B & V (who also enable him to do so), can be nice, clumsy beyond belief, and smart and clever when it comes to fighting criminals (especially in Stan Goldberg stories). He also loves his school perhaps more than anyone. I don't think anyone else comes close...

TOS over TNG ONLY because without TOS, TNG would not have existed, the same for the other Trek series. TNG to me has the more fleshed out characters, while TOS has the iconic characters. In TNG, there's really no back and forth bantering like TOS's Spock and McCoy had. Kirk vs. Picard? Classic argument. I think Kirk for the action, and Picard for the deep thinking and rationale. Yeah, I wussed out, so sue me! :P

Deep Space Nine's getting some flack they don't deserve. Sisko was pretty cool, the same for Dax, Bashir, Quark, and Odo. They only improved even more when Worf came over, and they got a Klingon ship to kick butt. Fully developed characters, religious themes, and later, war stories. The Dominion was nasty!

Voyager was okay. Having a starship rely on itself to survive with the Federation clean over on the other side of the universe really was an interesting challenge.

Enterprise was the weakest, obviously, but it had a few goodies. I liked the Mirror, Mirror Terrain Empire stories...

...Space Ghost made his debut on Saturday morning on CBS! The first of those classic Saturday morning non-animal heroes, Alex Toth's creation to me was great, and his rougue's gallery of villains  wasn't bad either. Couldn't get into Coast to Coast, though... ???

...But 50 years ago today, NBC premiered an unknown sci-fi series that was depicted by its creator, Gene Rodenberry as a "Wagon Train in space". "Star Trek" (the original series) made its debut! Happy 50th birthday ST:TOS! :)

Which is your favorite Star Trek TV, NOT movie, and why? I'll sit back and read everybody else's opinions before I write anything. Discuss! :)

All About Archie / Re: JUGHEAD #9 analyzed

I rather didn't like part with the science fair. First Jughead would never take part in a science fair. Jughead is a terrible student. He is so lazy he probably didn't make that model with all those foods.
Well, that depends. Jughead's been depicted as quite smart in the past, second only to Dilton. There are plenty of stories where he's been shown like this. Plus, it's possible he was forced to participate if he had a low grade to improve it. Besides, you didn't notice that he WON the competition? The one Dilton ALSO entered? :)

I liked this issue. I wonder if Sabrina offered her own costume in addition to the idea of advertising his burgers when Pop said he didn't have one, and she just, er, had one on hand? :2funny: Yeah, pretty much Jughead's going to make a mistake, and crossing a teenage witch is the worse thing anyone can do. :) I wonder what Sabrina's going to do to get back at him...?

All About Archie / Re: Veronica Lodge: New To Riverdale?

Quote from: DeCarlo Rules on September 08, 2016, 07:12:33 AM
After the earliest stories, there was a long period of time where they just didn't mention anything about it. Then after a while, it seemed like they were starting to incorporate the Little Archie stories (or at least some aspects of them) into the backstory of most of the Riverdale gang, so in that version Veronica moved to Riverdale as a little kid. A lot of stories that reference her as having been around when the gang were all little kids still show up as reprints in the digests, and those references were still showing up in stories up to the time of "The Death of Archie". None of that stuff means anything in the New Riverdale stories, since they're starting from scratch.
The thing about that is the reboot incorporates the original story concerning the origin of Ronica, who came to Riverdale as a teen, and not a child, which I really don't like. I would have preferred her as a kid who came to Riverdale...

How about the recent B&V digest cover where Betty and Ronica show up at the beach in the same bikini, see each other, then demand to each to take off their bikini "RIGHT NOW"!, all the time while the boys are watching them with grins (leering ones?)... :2funny:

I just looked through the recent B&V and B&V Friends digest covers at Grand Comics Database and don't see anything like that.
