So far I've only read the preview pages online. I have to say I'm a little put off by the limited coloring choice -- to be honest, it seems a little pretentious, like it's trying to make it look less like "classic Archie" and more like "alternative comic".

I think I'll probably wait for the print edition. To tell the truth, I'm still hoping they'll reconsider and go with traditional coloring on the print version.

You're missing out. Like Daren said it fills that void that classic Archie left. I didn't like the color scheme at first but I got used to it as I read on.

There's probably some cost to host your product. Same with Comixology. I assume there is some cost because I noticed some digital things expire after while and are no longer listed on the site. The cost may not outweigh the potential benefit.

Archie's Friends / Sabrina at Gravestone Heights
June 28, 2016, 01:59:04 AM
Sabrina at Gravestone Heights was first featured in Archie and Friends #2 and in almost every issue of the series through #14. Sabrina continued to be featured in Archie and Friends after this (though not at Gravestone Heights) until at least issue #20 before getting her own series, again, in 1997. She is featured on the cover of Archie & Friends #21 but not inside.

Here are the Gravestone Heights stories (12 total) I have found and their corresponding Archie and Friends issue number:

#2 Double Date (1st appearance)
#4 Mummy Dearest
#5 Aw, What the Hex
#6 Camp Cramps!
#7 Me, Myself, and Why?
#8 Our Spider, Have You Spied Her?
#9 Now You See Her Now You Don't
#10 Tuned Out!
#11 A Bone to Pick
#12 To Tell a Lie!
#13 For Your Eye Only!
#14 The Homecoming! (last Gravestone Heights story)

Has anyone found any others?

I read Written in the Stars by Aisha Saeed about a Pakistani arranged marriage gone bad.

I wish Sabrina would get her own non-chilling comedic series again. I'm sure the sales of the upcoming Jughead will help decide that. Or it can be chilling but also comedic like Meg Cabot's Mediator series.

Newspapers are dying if not dead. Usually those free magazines don't have anything worth reading in them. There's a reason they're free. Gisele is smart to do conventions. That's how most comic artists survive these days from commissions. Look at Dan Parent. He's the convention King.

I really thought I would love that crossover with The Lumberjanes & Gotham Academy. But they had a preview of it . And I didn't like the art. Maybe if ever comes out in a graphic novel I'll read it. I hope I could order it from the library. Sadly the art in Jem & The Holograms hasn't been that good.

I didn't really get the storyline of the Lumberjanes/Gotham Academy crossover. Probably would've helped if I had more familiarity with the Gotham Academy characters.

Check out https://twitter.com/heyjenbartel. She is the new artist on Jem.

The last couple of issues of DC Comics Bombshells have left me struggling. I love the premise, so I'm loathe to completely give up on it, but I don't stress much about picking up issues as they come out. The Archie reboot has me on the fence, but I'll probably stick with it. I guess I'm stubborn that way. ;)

I don't really understand the plot of DC Bombshells. Just as I'm reading one story it switches to another character the next issue.

I recently picked up and have been listening to the soundtrack for Hamilton (a little late to the party).

Love this soundtrack! It's so emotional to listen to. The opening track 'Alexander Hamilton' made me tear up.

I hadn't been on the site for a while, and then came back to find it essentially starting over, so here I am. I see that many kept their former names, so *waves to those I know*. For those who don't know me (or forgot, because it's been a hella long time, my name is Erin. I used to read/watch Archie when I was a kid, but stopped and only got back into it a couple of years ago. I'm keeping up with the new stuff, but my favorites are the 70s and early 80s stories and artwork I grew up with. I do, however, like the two horror titles.

Favorite characters are Betty, Sabrina, Valerie, and Reggie.

I'm heading into my busy season, so I may not be around terribly much until fall, but you never know when I might pop in. See you later! :)

What kinda work do you do that's busier in the summer?

I really thought hard about getting the Unlimited service on my Apple App, but when it came down to it having a copy in my hand and flipping through those pages with my own two hands outweighed paying $5.99 or whatever the price is per month for a lot of comics to read. There is also the fact that a huge chunk of the year I am a Phys. Ed/ Health Teacher in a High School and although the Phys.Ed. part isn't too demanding the Health part can be at times with grading and things like that. Also in the Spring I am the Girls JV Lacrosse Coach which also takes a huge chunk of time. I just wouldn't have a lot of time during most of those months to read my share of what is on the service so I determined for myself it is not for me. I am glad to hear it is working out for others though.

You can go month to month but it all depends on how fast you read or how much you read per month.
So you can have the subscription for one month cancel it and then the next month re-open it? I guess that would work, but it could be a hassle especially if they have any type of surcharges for signing up.It also leaves the fact I love having the comics in my hands.

There's no surcharges. You could have it for 2 months in the summer and cancel it.

This looks cute, Holly G has a new book people can get for five dollars a month at patreon about two friends who decide to eat their way through Disneyland.

Unfortunately it looks like they are creating some YA novel (based on the Patreon only samples) and not a comic. I think Holly G just drew that image for a promo or cover.

Fernando also apparently has a story in an upcoming comic:

Archie's Friends / Re: Midge: Use her more?
June 25, 2016, 01:58:26 AM
Let's face it. Characters like Ethel and Midge don't bring in new readers. Think of popular TV or movie characters. Are any of them gawky girls? Producers usually add non-white but still very attractive characters to attract certain demographics of viewers. Gangly girls traditionally don't want to watch other gangly girls being the butt of the joke, which let's face it, Ethel almost always is. They usually aspire to look like Betty and Veronica and will buy all kinds of makeup, creams, and potions to do so. And companies will be happy to market these products to them.

For example, Ellen Degeneres was the face of some makeup brand for awhile but that was short lived. And now we have "traditionally" pretty and young actresses hawking make up again.

Is anyone asking for a Moose Mason comic? Or Nancy Woods who has a very similar non-personality like Midge. I think if any of the side characters would get their own comic it would be someone like Pepper or Valerie and they would write them much more sarcastically and "edgy" in line with today's humor. They would probably be written more like bad girls.
