Midge only appear in Archie #2 at Betty's Birthday party. I think Fiona Staples made Midge look awesome. And Midge was in the lunchroom in Archie #2. Plus she was talking to Jughead #7 while in the pool.
Besides Midge, Where has Ethel gone? She was in none of Jughead issues. Will Derek Charm bring her back?

I'm pretty sure I saw Ethel in the background in one of the earlier issues (maybe #1 or #2). I think it was one of the cafeteria scenes.

I really thought hard about getting the Unlimited service on my Apple App, but when it came down to it having a copy in my hand and flipping through those pages with my own two hands outweighed paying $5.99 or whatever the price is per month for a lot of comics to read. There is also the fact that a huge chunk of the year I am a Phys. Ed/ Health Teacher in a High School and although the Phys.Ed. part isn't too demanding the Health part can be at times with grading and things like that. Also in the Spring I am the Girls JV Lacrosse Coach which also takes a huge chunk of time. I just wouldn't have a lot of time during most of those months to read my share of what is on the service so I determined for myself it is not for me. I am glad to hear it is working out for others though.

You can go month to month but it all depends on how fast you read or how much you read per month.

I'm starting to think the delays are on purpose. Roberto said last year he was the holdup and I guess he was right, I thought maybe he was taking the fall so ACP wouldn't look bad but no, they've been putting out their other books on time this past year. Unless the delays are Francesco's, but if they're Roberto's why are they happening at all. Story and dialogue as simple and short as Afterlife's shouldn't take that long to write even if he has other things going on. I'm not saying that means it sucks, even though it is overrated I still like it okay and it's better than Life With Archie which was more complex and ambitious, but you would think LWA would be the book with delays, it must have been harder to write, instead it's Afterlife? I can't think of any reason why that would be unless it IS on purpose.

Logically I would think it would be the artist (Francesco) who would be the cause of delays because it takes longer to draw.

70 + years and the only thing we know about her is that she dyes her hair black  ;D
Pretty much and apparently she likes it cute short. It don't make sense. You even bring in a character like Cheryl Blossom later one than Midge and don't get me wrong I love Cheryl Blossom, but they develop her character to where she pretty much becomes an overnight sensation.

I think it's because she has shorthair like Ethel which isn't typically thought of as sexy. All the other girls who are famous in the Archie world have long hair and are usually marketed as sex symbols or at least drawn cute to attract attention. Hiring Adam Hughes a cheesecake artist goes along with that.

I do love Afterlife, I agree that quarterly would be enough to keep readers happy.
Like I said I haven't read the series so is there an underlying reason why they had such huge delays with these books. Is it because they are so detailed and it takes longer or is it because they got sidetracked with other projects, or maybe just because funding ran out?

I believe it's because they have to work around Sacasa's schedule. They should just get a new creative team.

I LOVE Bitch Planet  :)  I am not sure whether I should give up on Jem though...

I'm the opposite. Love Jem but Bitch Planet was too weird for me.

They will keep publishing it as long as it is profitable. I don't know the exact numbers but I'm willing to bet each issue of Afterlife or Chilling Sabrina sells more than each issue of reboot Archie or Jughead (except issue #1 of course).

I'd hire better writers. Even some of the most talked about issues of recent times did not have strong stories.

Such as? Mark Waid? Chip Zdarsky?

I gave up on Jughead after the first issue. I was never able to make it through anymore issues until Jughead #7 which I loved.

Everytime I hear the name Midge I think of Barbie's old friend who was also jettisoned in favor of more trendy African and Asian doll friends.

Digital all the way. I only buy physical if it isn't available digitally or I like a variant cover.

seen a lot of mixed opinions about Bennet's writing

How so? I know for myself I tried DC Bombshells but despite the beautiful art I just couldn't get into it because of so many competing storylines. Does anyone read/like that series on here?

All About Archie / Re: Life With Kevin

I loved it! But I'm a sucker for new kid in a big city stories. I'm not a big fan of the original Kevin Keller stories. Not sure why but he comes across as too perfect to me. The old stories seemed very focused on the fact that he was gay and having that be the major plot point at the risk of sacrificing further characterization. To be fair, I haven't read them all.

In this story, yes he is gay and has a cute love interest. But he's also finding his way at a new job, new city, living alone for the first time in an apartment. That was all very interesting to me.

Hopefully the Life with Kevin trade will be full color. I wasn't loving the three toned blue, black, white art.

Reading these issues back to back, they seem like a bit of return to form for ACP. Both are sort of a soft reboot to me and feature stories that are mostly like "Classic Archie". Especially Archie #9 which was very drama free and lighthearted compared to prior issues. I think they might be a "jumping on point" and might interest fans who have previously eschewed the reboot in favor of Classic Archie. It seems like they are listening to fans and trying to bridge the gap between Classic and reboot. Thoughts?

Betty and Veronica are my favorite stories and characters and what Adam Hughes has done in the past with his art on them has been amazing. I may have to take a peek at this new series, I just hate ordering them online as I don't have a Comic Shop in my area and the regular bookstore only carries sporadic digests.

My local Barnes and Noble used to carry the Betty and Veronica floppies and now carries the Archie reboot. You may see it there.
