Some of those exclusive variants look great. Especially the Flying Colors Comics (Dez Taylor), Rick's Comic City (Sam Payne), and Stadium Comics (Marco D'Alfonso) covers. I'd love to see any of those guys draw an entire issue.

All you did was pick out the "Classic Archie" variants.  ;D

I didn't really understand the story at all and I haven't read much of Magick Chicks. I liked Fernando's story better. The art is great in all of Pixie Trix's comics but I think I just don't get or like Dave Lumsden's writing style. Menage a Trois I thought was the funniest. When does the girl band part start?

The 10th (last) page of the story is up now. New Arc starts in July.

I'm going to read it now.

My favs:

ARCHIE: B) The befuddled, clumsy loser of most other eras;

JUGHEAD: C) The anti-romance character who can still hang out with women (such as his friendship with Betty).

VERONICA: B) The Jerk with a Heart of Gold character (mostly seen in and after the '60s

BETTY COOPER: B) The All-Around Girl-Next-Door Nice Girl Tomboy (most eras) [Not sure why people would like dim loser Betty]

REGGIE MANTLE: B) Jerk With a Heart of Gold, who still hangs out with the gang.

CHERYL BLOSSOM: A) The super-selfish and obnoxious villain ('80s & her return)

I tend to like milder versions of the characters. I think people like whichever version of the character they grew up reading.

I just hope we more than 6 covers to choose from. I hope by Wednesday we see more covers.

Have more covers leaked? I've only seen 4.

Btw, do artists make any royalties off their variant covers per copy sold or is a one time payment? Do they mostly just do variant covers for the exposure?

Anything special in those Betty and Veronica digests? I've been reading some older Betty and Veronica digests and they used to publish some Josie stories.

Don't really know. I'll let you know after I read them. I have a game plan for collecting digests... apart from only a few very-short-run titles, I'm only collecting digests from the period of 2005 through 2014 (I didn't start getting the current digest titles until January 2015). 2005 is when LAUGH COMICS DIGEST and JUGHEAD WITH ARCHIE DIGEST were cancelled and replaced by TALES FROM RIVERDALE DIGEST and JUGHEAD & FRIENDS DIGEST, respectively. Both of those titles distinguished themselves from the ones they replaced by featuring (then-)new stories in every issue. Looking at other digests from the around the same time, I noticed that other titles also began featuring new stories. BETTY AND VERONICA DIGEST had new stories from at least issue #185 (that's the first one I'm sure of, at any rate), which was "Betty and Veronica Meet Betty and Veronica", the second in a series of four Memory Lane stories, so that's the point I picked to go back to as a starting point (good luck finding a non-digital copy of 185, though I've read the story in question). It's a short run to the end after that, since BETTY AND VERONICA DIGEST ends (after getting a brand-new logo in issue #188) with #208, and is thereafter replaced by B&V FRIENDS DOUBLE DIGEST #209 (which I'm also collecting beginning with that issue). I think I mentioned this before, but B&V FRIENDS has Josie stories in every issue. Still missing a couple dozen of those.

Archie Digests history at a glance:

I think new lead stories were featured in the early Betty and Veronica double digests a lot more often than we previously released or at least the lead stories don't seem to be reprinted. I have almost all these DD's and I've been perusing them looking for Josie and Sabrina stories.

I've been going through trying to find all the Josie and the Pussycats stories. In Archie and Friends, each issue had a Pussycats long after they disappeared from the cover.

All About Archie / Digital Exclusives

I had this topic on the old forum, but in case people were still interested, here it is again. Comics.org won't let me list digital comics so I'll put it on here instead.

Here is one I tabulated recently. The collections I choose to put up on here are in no particular order. Just whatever ones I've read/are interested in. Sorry for the formatting. This looked better on my word doc. If you want a synopsis of the stories, visit comics.org. If there was no synopsis on that site, I included it here.

Hmmmmmmmmm.....

I wish the innards were gonna look like THIS, though...

BUT if they're not going to let Gisele draw that actual comic book, then how about THIS one...?

I agree I wish Gisele was drawing it, but I think no matter who draws it, it's going to be a smash hit.  It boggles my mind that Archie Comics took this long to do another Josie project.  I think it might be their franchise with the most potential for mass appeal.

Yeah Gisele is obviously heavily inspired by Josie and the Pussycats. I wish she would do a more musical themed comic about a girl band. Do the Magic Chicks form a band?

Got a big order of Archie Comics back issues in the mail from MyComicShop.com:

B & V FRIENDS DOUBLE DIGEST #236
BETTY AND VERONICA DIGEST #187, 189, 207
JUGHEAD (1987) #89, 90, 91, 93, 94, 160 (all key Trula Twyst issues)
JUGHEAD & ARCHIE JUMBO COMICS DIGEST #5
JUGHEAD & FRIENDS DIGEST #31, 34
TALES FROM RIVERDALE DIGEST #4, 5, 7, 9, 10, 12, 14, 16, 17, 18, 19, 20, 21, 22, 25, 26, 27, 28, 29, 31, 32, 33, 34, 35, 38, 39
VERONICA'S PASSPORT DIGEST #2

Total cost ( for 40 comics) was $129.30. Shipping was $4.95. They do an excellent job of packing these shipments with bags and boards and a printed label identifying each comic and the price (on the bag, of course), then they bundled those 40 comics into 3 larger bags. The box they shipped in had these neat foam corner inserts to protect the comics from bump and dings if the package was mishandled. Kudos to the guys at Lone Star for going the extra mile.

Already sat down and read the JUGHEAD issues featuring the first 5 appearances of Trula, plus a key story from #160 (Jughead kissed her twice!). I'll be reviewing those a little later when I get the time to sit down and write something substantial. All in all, I should have enough here to get me through a few weeks or a month. I'd like to be giving my money to ACP, but... hey, they refuse to do the logical, sensible thing and reprint stories like the original appearances of Trula Twyst (to give but one example) in a trade paperback. So the back issue dealers get my money instead. Smart thinkin', ACP! Just make sure you keep putting out 25 cover variants on every new comic you print, that'll make up for it.  >:(

The Trula Twyst issues are fairly difficult to get a hold of as well. I always see them sold out on mycomicshop.com and not listed frequently on eBay.

JUGHEAD (1987) #89, 90, 91, 93, 94, 160 - I'll be reviewing these in detail later in another thread.

The Trula Twyst issues. Woot woot. I've been meaning to get my hands on these eventually. They are not available digitally :(.

Read the latest two issues of Patsy Walker. I can see what DeCarlo Rules meant about the art in issue #6. It was in the style of a little kids' series. I actually didn't mind it because I like the artist's series Bee and Puppycat. I also read the last 2 issues of this series as well. Sad to see it go. There are so few current series that feature multiple short stories in one issue which I prefer over an issue long story when I'm tired. There's Grumpy Cat and the Disney comics. Anyone know any others?

These are my favorites but we probably get more before the first issue comes out.

Can't wait to preorder these. Especially the Gisele one. I might even get two copies I love it so much. I haven't seen these listed at TFAW or Midtown yet. Hopefully Gisele will get to illustrate an issue. Jen Bartel one of my all time favorite illustrators/comic artists did so many variant covers of Jem she eventually became the replacement artist for Sophie Campbell. BettyReggie, you should start picking up this series again beginning with Jem #18 which is Jen Bartel's first issue. I think you will really like the art.

I just realized Marguerite Bennett is the writer for this one. While the art in DC Bombshells is beautiful, I never could follow the many subplots and stopped reading it. I hope the story is more understandable. The other writer Cameron DeOrdio I have never heard of.

Just announced -95 Days Archie #12 which comes out on 9/21/16

[/size]I like the Marguerite Sauvage cover the best (far right). Though I like the fall leaves in the other ones a lot.

Really liked Jughead #7. It's more of a classic Archie comedic story (with some inside jokes) and no dream sequences/fantastical elements.
