I wish they would do themes for the digests which is why I like the digital exclusives aka PEP comics better overall. Like for the Summer Annuals do all summer stories. Instead, they do a few Halloween stories in the beginning and end for the Halloween digests.

Josie and the Pussycats #1 by Gisele Lagace

They just sold a copy!

You're buying an actual variant cover?

@irishmoxie: I wonder who could tear this apart if includes so much content for the price. I am very new to Archie Unlimited but being a traditional paper comic only reader my opinions may change with more use but I hope I keep enjoying it. I think I get my money's worth just reading a few of the digital exclusives. Yes I don't get to keep the comics but the price for so much content I can read and enjoy far outweighs that fact

People were really mad it took them 6 months? or so to roll out an Android version of the app. The comics they had previously purchased via the app were held hostage because they did not have a compatible device to read them for 6 months. Also there is still? not a desktop version of the app and a surprising amount of people read comics on their computer.

I believe it used to be about a dollar or two cheaper 5.99 or 6.99 before the big app update. There also used to be a lot more (months or even years worth of) free content available without Unlimited on the old app but they got rid of that so they could actually make some money from the app. I was really impressed and excited when the new app first came out and was really saddened by how much people tore it apart on this site. Glad you're enjoying digital! I find I can read a lot more comics that way and faster than reading print.

Yay a summer fun story! I'll definitely be reading this.

Adam Hughes' nose and Jughead's nose bear an eerie resemblance to each other.

The Triumphant Return of Archie Comics Collector!!  :D  I missed you and your reviews.

Also Fernando said something about how he had ghost written (used another name?) some stories for ACP after this one so we may see those eventually.

I think I read one of this stories a long time ago. I wish I could find and read them all.

I found reprints of these beginning in Betty and Veronica DD #16 (published Dec 1989). This digest reprints all 4 parts featured in Betty and Me #79 (the first Betty Cooper, Betty Cooper story). My other digests are in storage right now. I'll have to check those later to see if they continued to reprint these stories.

None of these variants capture Melody's sexiness. And keeping in mind that ACP is so very political correct nowadays ( ::) ), I am afraid Melody won't be portrayed as the sexy kitten she was in the Classic style stories.

Melody and Josie are drawn pretty sexy in that Alitha Martinez cover.

Andrew Pepoy variant for Betty and Veronica #1
Exclusive to New England Comics

He also posted it on Facebook but it won't let me link that here.

Interesting...looks like he can draw pretty cute guys too. Jughead especially.

Josie and the Pussycats #1 variant by Derek Charm

Josie and the Pussycats #1 variant by Colleen Coover

Josie and the Pussycats #1 variant by Alitha Martinez

I like Derek Charm's (love the cat) and Alitha Martinez's the best out of these 3.

::) Is it just me or does the Francavilla cover look a lot like it's riffing on hs upcoming AWA cover ...  :(

All his covers look the same to me. He always draws those silhouette covers because they take less effort.

I read Archie Double Digest 269, the one with Fernando's final Archie story. "Happiness is a Clean Pup" about Archie and Jughead starting their own dog washing business.

Pretty soon they expand their business to washing cats:

Obviously the story is funny and Fernando's art is as great as ever. Now we won't be seeing it in any new ACP stories anymore and no need to say to anyone here how much this sucks. Coincidental that this story comes out the same day that ACP announces their new Josie reboot as if as distraction, maybe when Dan Parent does his last story we'll get news of a Reggie reboot. With Reggie in juvie hall or maybe the psych ward if that isn't too tame for them by then.

Started reading that yesterday as well. Usually I sit and read the whole digest (Annuals and Jumbos included) in one sitting, but for some reason I fell asleep after reading (I guess) about 50 pages (it was in the middle of the Statue of Liberty story).

And now I'm wondering just what happened to that B&V FRIENDS DOUBLE DIGEST #248, and if I will ever see it, or if it was cancelled with no announcement.

How was the rest of that Archie digest? Does it have a lot of summer themed stories?

B&V Friends 248 has been out digitally since 5/25/2016. I've already read it. I'm not sure about the print version. Maybe they are testing the waters to see if people will buy digests digitally now. Or there is some new embargo before the print copies get released.

Unbelievably excited!! ACP is finally listening to the fans. I like Audrey Mok's cover the best.
