I just read Jughead #6 my digital copy. It was just ok, I would give it a B. The other 5 issues were better. I can't we haven't seen Ethel in any of the issues. It seems like they really don't talk about Jughead not liking girls. He was friendly with Betty. And he really can't stand Veronica.

Maybe the new writer and artist will bring Ethel in

I was re-reading Archie and I saw Ethel in a background in a scene. I believe it's the one where Veronica vomits up the sloppy joe.

Starting a 10-pager: http://www.magickchicks.com/strips-mc/mc_soft_reboot_-_two_melissas_-_pg_1_of_10

::) If you haven;t read the story to this point you have to take the split at face value ...

I'll probably just wait until all ten pages are up. Just makes more sense... I like to read a complete story or a complete chapter. Most webcomics aren't really written in "newspaper strip" mode. I'm even kind of starting to feel that way about continued stories in monthly comics versus trade collections. It just seems so much more consistent and comprehensible that way (and the problem is compounded the more ongoing comics series you read).

Isn't Gisele calling the new EC/MC (since returning from hiatus) a "soft reboot" now? What split?

But if you only read trade paperbacks there will be low sales of single issues and series will end early and the comic industry could potentially fail.

To me soft reboot just means they change the artists and possibly writers. Content is very similar. I liked the Eerie Cuties story Fernando did. It was like an Archie story but more pg13. I agree it does make a good jumping on point for people who aren't that familiar with it. I'll probably read this one once the story finishes up. Too confusing to read it day by day.

Excited for the battle of the bands issue. I wish there were more music themed comics. Besides Jem and the Holograms and Josie and the Pussycats, I wonder if there are any others.

I returned 4 books to the library. There was nothing to pick up. My aide & I went to the thrift store. I wanted to see what's new there. There was nothing to buy. I bought the big salad for mom & I for supper at the Garden Gourmet . I ask the guy to put chick peas & corn & American cheese & chicken . They were out of bacon. I asked for a small cup of ranch dressing. And also got milk for mom. We also stop at KFC to get a medium soda. I had a soda there & bought the refill home for mom.

Yum. I'm eating a salad for dinner tonight too.

Archie 1-8. Sadly it doesn't hold up to a reread that well though it goes really fast because each issue is so short. It doesn't help I've never really been a fan of the Archie vs. Mr. Lodge stories and they dragged that out for 8 issues. I also am not a big fan of Reggie the villain and I don't like how they keep withholding info like what Reggie did that was so bad that he didn't want anyone else to know about. Also I noticed a lot happens that they never show. Like Betty and Sayid suddenly start dating. Hopefully the next arc will be better with the music theme. The Pussycats might even make an appearance.

In each issue about one thing happens:
#1 - the one with the dance
#2 - the one where Betty gets a makeover and Mr. Lodge's house falls down
#3 - the one where Veronica vomits at school and Archie falls in love
#4 - the lipstick incident aka emo teen angst issue
#5 - the one where Veronica has a house party; Reggie's Revenge part 1
#6 - the one where Archie gets a concussion; Reggie's Revenge part 2
#7 - the one where Archie works at the newspaper; Reggie's Revenge part 3
#8 - Mr. Lodge finally allows Veronica to date Archie

Never thought I'd say this but I think this series needs more action by Jughead. What happened to Jughead and Betty teaming up to break up Archie and Veronica?? Guess she's too distracted by Sayid now.

Have to say though Fiona Staples still draws my favorite Veronica. She captures that rich girl Blair Waldorf aesthetic better than the others.

Adam Hughes draws good girls? Had me fooled.

I think you could probably read Archie #1 and #8 (and maybe the one where they explain the lipstick incident) and you'd be all caught up with it plot wise.

The new Riverdale comic/Archie reboot reads like a YA novel with all the "teen" slang and angst. There are moments of comedy in there but it's mostly in the art, not the dialogue i.e. Archie setting ice cream on fire, Archie being flattened by a bulldozer.

The Riverdale TV show feels a lot like The OC (with the new Betty being Marissa) and a little of Dawson's Creek (with the whole dating your teacher thing).

This last issue was awesome (again!)

Jeff Shultz's parody of the Archie main five in their famous pose:

Which is what parallel counterpart of which?  I didn't see that at all.  I guess Stewart's a little bit of an Archie/Jughead mashup and Kelly's sort of a Melody/? mashup, but I didn't see any attempt to satirize the Archie main cast there in any way.

It's the pose of 2 people fighting over one person. Like Betty and Veronica fighting over Archie.

Tonight, I read DC Superhero Girls(FCBD 2016) and It is fun.

You can see the animated series here:

I thought it was cute too. Don't know if I'd spend money on it though.

I like Adam Hughes' and Allison Sohn's the best. Rachel Stott's is interesting.

I read some of the story about 6 pages. I didn't really get it maybe because I'm not that familiar with the franchise. Maybe it'll make more sense if I go back and read all 12 pages together. I wonder if Fernando had these 12 pages planned out in advance or took it day by day. I wonder that of a lot of webcomics actually. Maybe that's why they read so disjointed--- it's like they're making it up as they go.
